🐇Mr. Rabbit🐇

Hi friends! Here is my Easter finish. "Mr. Rabbit".
Isn't he absolutely darling? I just fell in love with him and knew I had to stitch him as soon as I finished my last project. I stitched this on 32ct Baby Lotion linen and then backed it with Rhubarb velveteen by Lady Dot Creates.
I affectionately call this finish Peter Cottontail!🐇 The designer calls him Mr. Rabbit. The designer is Maria Brovko and you can find this FREE pattern on her facebook page.

I finished another autograph for my brother's 🎶Bluegrass Bibs🎶
This is Frank Solivan of the Frank Solivan Band & Dirty Kitchen. Two more signatures to go you guys!!🤪

I have a question for you friends. Were you ever required in school to read The Scarlet Letter? I know I was back in grade school. I do believe it was 5th grade. I had this idea in my head recently to listen to the book after so many years. So I borrowed an audio book from my library. Wow! I was so surprised. They place the grade level of reading for this book at 11.7!! 🤯 WHAT?!  I was 10 years old when I read this folks! I remember reading this in public school. Which of course made me ask my kids if they read this. No they did not. My three went to private Christian schools. They never heard of this book. Do they still teach this book? I admit it takes some concentration in the beginning to get into it. YES, it does. How sad is that.  Shows how my mind was back then. Uncorrupted I guess.
In Nathaniel Hawthorne's dark novel, The Scarlet Letter, a single sinful act ruins the lives of three people. None more so than Hester Prynne, a young, beautiful, and dignified woman, who conceived a child out of wedlock and receives the public punishment of having to always wear a scarlet "A" on her clothing. She refuses to reveal the father of her child, which could lighten her sentence. Her husband, the aptly-named Roger Chillingworth, who Hester thought had died in a shipwreck but was actually being held captive by Native Americans, arrives at the exact moment of her deepest public shaming and vows to get revenge. Her lover, Arthur Dimmesdale, remains safely unidentified, but is wracked with guilt. Though originally published in 1850, the story is set in seventeenth-century Massachusetts among Hawthorne's Puritan ancestors. In The Scarlet Letter, he created a story that highlighted both their weaknesses and their strengths. His knowledge of their beliefs and his admiration for their way of life was balanced by his concerns about their rigid and oppressive rules.
I hope to be back on Orthodox Easter with a small Easter finish.

This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:12-13

Thank you for stopping by today my friends. Thank you for your lovely comments. They encourage me. God bless you! Have a great weekend!

This should be very interesting. Our Easter service begins at 11:30 p.m. Saturday evening and goes until 3:00 a.m. Sunday.  The interesting part is we are expecting a low of about 26 degrees then WITH SNOW!❄️Lots of snow. 3 to 6 inches of it!❄️Did I mention we process around the church? I will let you know if we still do that!!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

What a beautiful rabbit you stitched up and finished, Vickie! How did you like working with the velvet for the backing? Good for you on getting another signature stitched for the bibs. I think we read excerpts of that book in high school. I wouldn't call it appropriate reading for 5th grade though. Enjoy your weekend; praying the snow doesn't arrive!

Vickie, I read it in High School, I'm surprised it was assigned in 5th grade!! I love, love your version of the rabbit, I just scrolled through her facebook page and printed it out. What two color threads did you use? I adore your finish too!!! Well, we had 2 nice Spring days and now it's dreary and pouring cats and dogs but at least it's not snow!! I hope the weatherman made a mistake! Have a Happy Easter...Mary

Vickie, your "Peter Cottontail" finish is fantastic! You did a spot-on job with the eye (very expressive) and the finish is perfect. Well done!

Again, the autograph project is beautiful and so original. Just two more! I know your poor little fingers will thank you when it's done.

I don't remember if we read The Scarlet Letter in school, but I read it on my own a few years ago. We must have, because the story was familiar to me. My husband teaches at the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, and he had his students read it late last year. We found a 1980s PBS production of the story, which followed it almost verbatim, and that was helpful for the students to understand the story. English is a second language for some of the students, so you can imagine how challenging it was for them.

Oh yeah. Mr. Rabbit is just cute. I love these motifs - they have something nostalgic about them.
The autograph has succeeded again very well.
Have a nice weekend, Hugs, Martina

I love your finish! It's wonderful! Hooray for two more signatures! YGG! You are such a good sister! I can't remember for sure if I had to read The Scarlet Letter for school. But I'm guessing I did. I re-read it as an adult too. Hope your Easter services are ok in the snow! Yikes!

Good Morning Vickie, I love your Mr. Rabbit. He is so looks great. I just wish I had the time to do everything that I wanted to do and try. If I remember correctly we had to read it in English Class in high school. I do quite a bit of reading on my tablet especially when I can't sleep. That is a long Easter Service. Snow is not surprising on Easter. Our Saturday was a beautiful day and I can remember the boys playing in the snow last Easter. Take care. Hugs and prayers from your Missouri friend Shirley.

What a wonderful rabbit! He is so detailed and sophisticated for being a little guy. Sweet. I don't remember school except for the embarrassing moments.

I love your Beatrix Potter rabbit. I am sure the designer was well aware of who he is but chose the name Mr Rabbit to avoid licensing charges!

I had not heard of The Scarlet Letter book until I started setting up The Scarlet Letter blogs and discovered there was a book of the same name. It's always interesting to revisit school set texts as an adult.

Peter is adorable, what a lovely finish!
Is your brother still adding signatures and you're stitching them as they come? I can't remember.
I honestly don't remember if I read The Scarlet Letter in school, but I do remember reading it. I think they made a movie about it years ago?
Wow, that's quite a service! Did you go? Did you get that crazy snow?!
