Main Street Monday

This is the view out my kitchen window. I am showing you the fire department,Company #1. It is housed in the historic City Hall building which was built in 1929. It is built with brick and  lannon stone. There are several lannon quarries in this area of Wisconsin.  I love the parapets and windows. How about that bell tower?

A Peek At The Pink

Hi friends! Busy, busy times.I have not worked on Moonlight Visitor at all. In one week we will be living in the apartment, so we have been packing and moving boxes over. The apartment is one mile away.😉 I do have a very few pictures to share with you. Not much so far, but I have had a LOT of requests to see the pink, so here you go!

This is a living room wall. This paint color is called New House White. It is the palest of the whites with red hues by Behr paint. It seems in the morning to appear totally white. I took this picture at it's pinkest. It did not even seem this pink in real life to me. I was surprised when I viewed it on the computer screen by the amount of pink showing up. (But I like it!!)
This is one of the first things I noticed about our apartment. Yes, I know. Such an important thing, right?😉 Brian said he never noticed this. I fell in love with these glass door knobs instantly. Our building is 150 years old.😍
I just love these locks. This is the boys' bedroom closet, complete with skeleton key still in the lock.

Here is our lovely, old medicine cabinet. It might be hard to tell, but the bathroom walls are painted Martha Stewart Magnolia Blossom ( a very pale pink).
When my Great Aunt Corrine died I got her kitchen table. NOT her kitchen chairs. My Aunt Kathy took those. Yes, took the chairs. When you are 22 years old, you take what you get.😉 So, after carting this antique table around for all these years, it was not in the best of shape. It is 104 years old now. Solid Maple. It was made by the Wisconsin Chair Company of Port Washington. Not far from here. So cool!

Good thing our second son, Emerson is a carpenter hey?😁 It was all just surface damage. That young man sanded it all down, stained it all to match the original color and varnished it. TA DA!
I know. Not a good picture at all. I just don't have time and I only took the camera with me once to the apartment. I will get another one sometime soon. Really. Notice the leaf is in. We will keep it that way. We are more used to those dimensions of the table. The size compares to our present kitchen table which we are selling with the house.

The three chairs seen here are the ones I got for $5 a piece. They needed a little wood glue, and I put new fabric on the seats. I think they are cute. The three other chairs we bought are T backs. So a little mix and match. Oh well!
The grey vinyl flooring you see is in the dining area and the kitchen. The rest of the apartment has wood floors.

More pictures to come my friends! That is it for today though. I have been packing, packing and unloading, unloading. REPEAT!  It is nice that we live only one mile from the apartment. We can run loads of boxes over there when we fill up the car a few times a week. The BIG, final move is next Thursday.

I have been figuring out valances. I had some pink and some white linen in my stash already. I had to order some very pale pink linen. I went to JoAnn and bought some black linen. All the valances will be linen at this house. I have never done the same thing with my curtains or valances over the years at any of our four homes or our first apartment! I enjoy creating new styles.😊

Well, I must get back to packing. Then I will take a break and sew for a bit. For now the cross stitch sits on the side.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed a look into my new world. I always enjoy having you, so come again!

🐩

Hi friends! Let me finally share with you the progress I have made on Moonlight Visitor.
I am getting there, slow but sure. Not a lot of stitching time lately. Lots of packing going on. And I have been plotting and planning new valances for the apartment! I have always loved making curtains and valances for our homes. I took home economics in junior high and high school, did you? I loved those classes. I really enjoyed the cooking and sewing AND they were useful classes! For me they certainly were anyhow.
Oh do I have a good book for you! I listened to The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte by Syrie James and I really, really, really liked it a LOT! I could not wait to listen to it each time I had a chance. This basically followed Charlotte's life, and what an interesting life she had!
Though poor, plain, and unconnected, Charlotte Bronte possesses a deeply passionate side which she reveals only in her writings—creating Jane Eyre and other novels that stand among literature's most beloved works. Living a secluded life in the wilds of Yorkshire with her sisters Emily and Anne, their drug-addicted brother, and an eccentric father who is going blind, Charlotte Bronte dreams of a real love story as fiery as the ones she creates.
But it is in the pages of her diary where Charlotte exposes her deepest feelings and desires—and the truth about her life, its triumphs and shattering disappointments, her family, the inspiration behind her work, her scandalous secret passion for the man she can never have . . . and her intense, dramatic relationship with the man she comes to love, the enigmatic Arthur Bell Nicholls.
"Who is this man who has dared to ask for my hand? Why is my father so dead set against him? Why are half the residents of Haworth determined to lynch him—or shoot him?"
From Syrie James, the acclaimed, bestselling author of The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen, comes a powerfully compelling, intensely researched literary feat that blends historical fact and fiction to explore the passionate heart and unquiet soul of Charlotte Bronte. It is Charlotte's story, just as she might have written it herself.
The electrician came yesterday. At least that part is over and done.  Oh yes! And the painting is ALL done. Brian painted it all. The rest of us prepped and did clean up. I will have pictures eventually. I don't want you all to think the apartment is overwhelmingly pink. Not at all. It is very subtle. Very pale. Very pretty if I must say so myself.😘

Well, back to some packing. Thanks for stopping by today my friends. I hope you have a stitchtastic weekend!

Silver Anniversary

Hi friends! Wow. I can take a break I think.

On the 3rd was Brian and my 25th wedding anniversary. On Saturday we had our celebration. We had a joint party with my mom and her husband, as they will also be married next month for 25 years this year. The party was wonderful. We rented a hall in the town I grew up in. The one my mom and most of my family still lives in. We had family and friends, a meal and a good time.

I had on display this:
Forever Be My Always by Emma Congdon
Do you like the frame Brian and I picked out together? We went to Hobby Lobby to have it done.

And after I gave this to Mom and Jim, we displayed this also:
They loved it and were very appreciative I am happy to announce.😊

I have been stitching just a little on AotH, Moonlight Visitor. I am sorry, I do not have a picture for you today.

I won a giveaway from our friend DJ. This is a super chart. It will make great gifts for friends.😉Sorry DJ, I did not remember to take a picture of the chart AGAIN and I am not putting off posting about this gift from you another day! So I borrowed the picture from your blog.😉

That's it for today for me my friends. Break is over! Back to packing! Oh yes, I must tell you all. The moving date is NOT the 13th, this Friday. It is the 27th. That truly was the original date. The buyer is a first time buyer and also an underwriter at a bank. So she THOUGHT she could move it up to the 13th and was pushing for it, but no, it will be the 27th. That is okay. We have the apartment cleaned and over half painted. Think pink my friends! (Very, very pale pink) Woo hoo! Yes, my husband loves me.💕

Take good care of yourselves. There is only one you!! And I am so glad YOU came by.

Vickie

Winner

Hi friends! We went to the apartment yesterday and cleaned and began painting. The walls were painted grey. Brian asked if we could paint them colors of our choice. Yep!😊 But boy, what a LOT of work. And we are going back at it today.😐

The winner of the "God's Art" chart is our friend Mary. I will have another giveaway soon. I found charts to give away when I had my HUGE clean out of my stash in preparation for the move.
I have read yet another book by my favorite cartoonist, Stephan Pastis. I am trying to read the books in order of publication. This one was published in 2004, and is titled, Sgt. Piggy's Lonely Hearts Club Comic: A Pearls Before Swine Treasury. I had many laughs of course. This was a fun book.
The Fab Four of the funny pages come together again-this time in their first book treasury.

Rat, Pig, Zebra, and Goat, the central characters of Pearls Before Swine, are back in Sgt. Piggy's Lonely Hearts Club Comic, the first Pearls Before Swine treasury-supersized for your enjoyment.

But this is no ordinary cartoon treasury. Like the influential Beatles album that inspired the book's title, Sgt. Piggy is full of surprises. In addition to collecting all of the Pearls cartoons that appeared in BLTs Taste So Darn Good and This Little Piggy Stayed Home, cartoonist Stephan Pastis takes readers on a VIP backstage tour of one of the most successful comic strips in newspapers today.

In Sgt. Piggy, Pastis explains the genesis of Pearls (hint: it didn't begin at an artist's easel), why he was initially reluctant to show it to newspaper syndicates (and the surprising reason he changed his mind), the unexpected responses from readers to his work, and which Pearls strips worked and which ones didn't (and how he would have corrected the ones that didn't). The result is a rare and revealing glimpse into the world of Rat, Pig, Goat and Zebra.
I am stitching away on Moonlight Visitor whenever I get the chance. I will show you a picture next time my friends. Off to the apartment I go!

Have a super week! Thank you for stopping by.

Vickie
