Hands On Design October Redesign

Hi friends! I finally have the October "A Year of Celebrations" finish to share with you. I need to say it is by Hands On Design/ Cathy Habermann and by me! Why? Well take a look HERE at what the October pattern is supposed to look like. Now take a look at what a HUGE change I made to my October piece.
WAY different isn't it? That is because we do not celebrate Halloween at our house. This very month and pattern is the reason I am stitching these up so late. They did come out in 2014! I saw the October pattern and decided I would not do the patterns after all. But I kept seeing the cute monthly patterns and I really wanted to stitch them. I finally decided to make up my own for October!

I stitched this on 25ct New Khaki Lugana, one over one with DMC. I used mankaminta.blogspot.com for the maple leaves in the borders.
I can no longer find this blog. I had this pattern printed out 5 years ago! I also used many sweet fall motifs I have had printed out, just waiting to be used from this site CLICK HERE  The oak leaves I got from Erik Shipley's Patchwork Trees pattern that appears in the same issue this October Hands On Design pattern appeared in: Cross Stitch & Needlework November 2014.
It took me ages to come up with a fall word. I finally decided on crisp. I wanted pumpkin, but could not fit it.

Here are my three October pieces I got to display together for the last couple of days of the month. ;)
I am not sure what I will stitch next. I will have a look at what I have waiting for me.

Today is our Jacob's 22nd birthday! :) I am not sure how that happened. This is the first year we did not have family over for cake. Just the five of us for carrot cake I made. I just was not up to it. This anemia thing. If I exert myself in the least, I lose my breath. The doctors say it will just take time for my bone marrow to crank out more red blood cells with my increased iron intake. Okay. Good thing Jacob is very understanding. Everyone is. And loving.♥

Thank you for stopping in today. I hope you have a great week!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Happy Birthday to Jacob! I would be quite happy with eating carrot cake... yumm...
It WILL take time to build up your blood cells, so take it easy as much as you can. LOVE the October makeover! The word 'crisp' really jumps at me...excellent choice!! Really nice piece! Hugs!

You did a great job on your re-design. Carrot cake sounds yummy, and I'm sure Jacob enjoyed sharing his birthday with "just" his immediate family. Quiet celebrations like that are often more memorable and happy than the noisy, crowded times.

Happy Birthday Jacob! Mmmmm carrot cake...one of my family's favorites! I bet it was delicious! I am so sorry this anemia is causing so much trouble! I can totally understand...you wait for red cells...I wait for white...not fun either way! Thank goodness we are both blessed with loving families, wonderful friends and very understanding sons on their birthdays!

Your stitching is just lovely as usual! I love what you did with it...the changes are just perfect! I love Fall stitching with leaves and squirrels and lovely colors and you succeeded with all of it! A perfect addition to your cubby!

Hugs my friend!

I love your October-design, Vicky, totally different to the original, but still very very pretty! Happy Birthday to your Jacob. I am sure he enjoyed his birthday (and his cake) even without having the big family around.

And all the best for you and your health issues!

Hugs
Hilda

Your shelf is looking great - I really enjoy seeing what you display in it. I keep looking for a similar one at estate sales, yard sales, and Goodwill! I would love to do something similar to yours.

Your October Switches are beautiful I do celebrate Halloween, but I do not like Valentines Day - I run into the same problem with February - I know that is not nearly the same but I always look for February stitching that does not have hearts.

Such a cute re-design, Vickie--I love the way you made the little squirrel running down the word October. And crisp is the perfect word for the month (although perhaps not for the warm October we've had this year!).

I'm sure Jacob will love your carrot cake on his birthday with just the five of you. Happy Birthday to him and I hope his year ahead is a very special one :)

I love your October redesign. I like the way you've kept key parts of the design but de-spookified it!
I would have to do the same with the November block, who wants a headless Puritan? LOL

Happy belated birthday to Jacob!
Wow, the changes you made are fantastic. You found some very lovely little motifs to replace the Halloween ones with. It's a completely different October. I love it.

What a fabulous October redesign. I especially love the donkey kick Mr. Squirrel is giving to the acorn. I don't know if you intended it or not, but I love it.
