Mabel update

Hey everybody!
Thank you so much for your prayers for Mabel. Please say a few more! We took her to the vet on Saturday initially and she improved a little on Sunday and Monday. That was it. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday she went right back to the beginning, miserable. I took her to the vet yesterday for another steroid shot and the vet increased and extended her medication. Last evening she really did improve. She was walking around with her tail wagging again! She is still restricted for 9 more days now. But she does seem a little more like herself. Thank you God.

Mabel at one year

Speaking of God, we attended a Memorial Day Service at our church last evening. It was wonderful and very moving. The Army Chaplain David Sorensen was our guest. I became so choked up. He had the honor of serving for one year at Dover Air Force Base. He was with every family that year that was flown in to meet their deceased soldier, coming home from Iraq or Afghanistan. He stood with many, many families on the flight line. Oh my. The Chaplain cried retelling these things.

God Bless America

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.

On Eagle's Wings

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
Who abide in His shadow for life,
Say to the Lord, "My Refuge,
My Rock in Whom I trust."

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
And famine will bring you no fear;
Under His Wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield.

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
You need not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall about you,
Near you it shall not come.

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
For to His angels He's given a command,
To guard you in all of your ways,
Upon their hands they will bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

Thank a soldier today, current or past, for serving our country and for keeping us safe. May God keep them and their  families forever in His tender loving care.

I just sent you an email asking about Mabel! I'm so glad to read that she is doing better! I can imagine how emotional the Memorial Day service was at church. My husband counseled veterans for years & he would sometimes come home & tell me about someone from WWII coming to see him (he never told me the person's name or brought home personal details of course) & how this veteran after all these years would relate stories to him & break down crying. We owe such a debt of gratitude to these men. We can only glimpse a tiny bit of what they've had to deal with.
