She Loved It!😊

Hi friends! I had my last physical therapy session. You know what that means don't you? I gave my therapist,Bridget,  'Super Bridget'! Remember her?
Bridget was so surprised. She said,"Oh my gosh Vickie. I am going to cry. I know you said you cross stitch, but when I think of cross stitch I think of little old ladies. This is art! You are an artist! You made this for me!" 😁

What a great feeling when you go through all the trouble to make a gift for someone and they REALLY DO APPRECIATE IT!! RIGHT?! I always get that reaction from my mother, and don't get me wrong, I am grateful for that every single time, I am! But to have that reaction from a NONrelative, that is priceless!

By the way, since I have been discharged from physical therapy I am to continue working at home daily with my exercises. I am at 80% Bridget tells me from the measurements she took this week. It takes time and work to get to 100%. I am talking about the mobility in my shoulder. The pain is mostly gone. I just suffer very little pain, and that is after I work it hard with the exercises. That is it.

Do any of you exercise daily? I do use the treadmill daily, but I am not used to doing these additional small weight exercises and elastic band/resistance exercises also. What a commitment!

I am still stitching away on the pink sampler for myself to hang in my kitchen. I am one half done now.
The Lost Letter by Jillian Cantor is an historical book I read that takes place during WWII and alos during 1989. It revolves around stamp engravers and stamp collecting. These are topics
I have never come across in a WWII novel before. It was a good read. I enjoyed it. It had a good plot twist.
Austria, 1938. Kristoff is a young apprentice to a master Jewish stamp engraver. When his teacher disappears during Kristallnacht, Kristoff is forced to engrave stamps for the Germans, and simultaneously works alongside Elena, his beloved teacher's fiery daughter, and with the Austrian resistance to send underground messages and forge papers. As he falls for Elena amidst the brutal chaos of war, Kristoff must find a way to save her, and himself.

Los Angeles, 1989. Katie Nelson is going through a divorce and while cleaning out her house and life in the aftermath, she comes across the stamp collection of her father, who recently went into a nursing home. When an appraiser, Benjamin, discovers an unusual World War II-era Austrian stamp placed on an old love letter as he goes through her dad's collection, Katie and Benjamin are sent on a journey together that will uncover a story of passion and tragedy spanning decades and continents, behind the just fallen Berlin Wall.

A romantic, poignant and addictive novel, The Lost Letter shows the lasting power of love.
I hope you have a nice weekend my friends. I am so glad you decided to stop by. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog. I appreciate that!

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.  My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  Psalm 73:25-26

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Isn't Murphy funny? Poor old boy. He rolled right out of his bed! He laid like that for 5 minutes on his back then finally rolled over and got up. In just a few weeks he turns 15 years old!!🎉

How wonderful that your special gift for Brigitte was so appreciated, Vickie! You just never know, do you? I'm sure she will always remember her special patient and her artwork :)

Sp glad your pain is mostly gone! I'm sure you are very good about doing your physical therapy exercises at home since you are good about your treadmill workouts. I walk 3 miles a day on my treadmill and work out with my light weights a few times a week. The treadmill and my stitching are the best stress-relievers I know!

Enjoy your weekend--happy reading and stitching!

I am not surprised that the therapist loved your gift. Your stitching is superb. I hope the shoulder rehab continues to improve. Doing the exercises on your own will take discipline but you have what it rakes.

Lovely gift for your therapist. I am so happy that she was so happy. I know it means a lot when someone truly appreciates something you made for them.

Thanks for the book review. I think I will add this one to my list.

Stay well.

This is a fun framed finish for your therapist. So glad she was delighted with it. I do love that feeling of making someone happy simply with a little gift that comes from the heart... this is what tempted me to go back to blogging with a new chapter :)

Vickie, I love the stitch you made for Super Bridget and I knew she was going to love it. I think alot of people think old lady with cross stitch but then when they see the neat things we make they get a whole different picture. I know how happy it made you. There was alot of thought, love and work in your gift and so it is so wonderful when it is appreciated. I'm so, so happy to hear you are at 80% and we will party when you write 100%. Hugs, RJ

What a great photo of Murphy: I know what you mean about someone really appreciating a gift that you have made. You just never know. To answer your question, yes I do exercises almost everyday for my back. Three years ago I had a burst fracture on my L1 vertebrae. I had emergency surgery and am very blessed not to be in a wheel chair. I have some pain all the time and the exercises help a lot. I have just learned to live with it, enjoy life and be thankful everyday for all my blessings.

Good Morning Vickie....

What a wonderful feeling it is indeed to have someone appreciate and LOVE the handmade gifts that are so lovingly made for them. I am so glad that your Physical Therapist loved your gift....I thought it was wonderful too!

It is amazing to me the reaction I get from people when they learn that I love to cross stitch. Most think of little old ladies...lol and then when they see what I have made it is WOW and then oh that is too hard I could never do that...lol! I do have to smile though because whenever I finish a project Scott always tells me it is a work of art! My biggest fan...lol!

I was so happy to read that you have 80% mobility back in your shoulder with very little pain! Hooray! I walk but need to be more faithful...lol! Not so much in this heat...

Sending lots of hugs and love your way!

What a sweet photo of Murphy.

I don't really stitch for anyone because it doesn't fit in with their style, so I'm told, and I appreciate that they let me know rather than waste my time. Glad Bridget was thrilled with her gift.

No I do not exercise and I would love to, but it seems unattainable! Too stiff, too breathless, no stamina. One day though ....

Oh what a goofy picture of Murphy ahaha~

Yay, I'm so glad Bridget loved her mini-me. :D It really is nice when non-family appreciates crafts. I am afraid to make for non-crafters because it not fitting in can be a Real Thing.

I exorcise a several times a week but not quite daily. The days I mow the yard totally count as it's about 400 calories per day hah. My husband and I like to go bike riding on the weekend weather permitting... Then a couple of days of working non-legs because I think they get enough attention!

Oh Vickie, this is so great to read - that Bridget loved her surprise gift and that you are nearly pain free. And I'm sure that you will soon be at 100%. Doing these exercises is certainly not always fun but it leads to the 100% :)))

So great that Bridget loved what you made for her. She must be some PT! So great that you are at 80% with your shoulder! After hearing so often that a frozen shoulder is an awful thing to have, I am so happy for you! Good for you, and good for Bridget for being so good for you! Have to look up that book. Sounds interesting.

So glad that Bridget loved your cross stitch! That was such a sweet reaction from her.
I’ve always enjoyed cross stitch, and I feel sad that so many people think that only little old ladies cross stitch ..... it’s sooooo not true!
I’m happy to hear how much your shoulder is improving and hope you will soon reach 100%.
The book you recommend sounds interesting, I’ll try to find a copy, especially as my library seem to be getting rid of some of the books by the author I’ve been enjoying lately. Apparently there’s not enough demand for her books, but I know she is still writing.
Murphy is so cute!

Hi Vickie,

Now that is such a cute present, how sweet! I do recognize the crying part when receiving crossstitches. I also have it with quilts LOL Nothing to be done about it.
I am very happy your shoulder is doing so well, finally :)
Happy dance here ..
I think I'm a bit like Murphy (genes of a poodle, grins). It takes me awhile to get up too. My back has to adjust to the morning and yeah some minutes later all goes well ;)

Have a good day & happy stitching :)

Vickie, I'm so glad the PT appreciated your xs creation! And congrats on successfully graduating from therapy. I don't do a lot with weights, but try to walk and garden each day, or most days. :)

I am so glad that Bridget liked her present! It's a fantastic gift.
I don't do any regular exercise, I don't need to, I have a 9 year old LOL. I also have a job that involves being on my feet all day and lifting crates of books around.

Hi! I ran across your post about Bridget, love it! I've been in PT for almost two years and would like to do something similar for my therapist. Would you be willing to share the pattern?

I'm also a poodle lover, I have two red minis. Hope to hear from you!
