A Little Bit Of October

Hi friends! I took time out from ornament stitching to get the October pattern from our friend Palko stitched up and put into the cubby shelf.
I stitched this on 25ct white evenweave fabric, one over one with DMC 4128.

I have put off mentioning this for months because I did not want to whine about pain. I thought I could go to physical therapy and get things well again. Well think again!! This summer my lower back got injured. Like a dummy, I waited weeks to see the doctor. When I finally saw her, she referred me back to physical therapy. I went to my same physical therapist that helped me in the past. We worked at it for a month with little to no improvement. I have a disc bulge at L4-L5. My therapist thinks I need to get an MRI or something to see what is going on. Maybe there is further damage in addition to that bulge? My problem is that I have nerve pain/tingling all day and night down my leg and into my foot. My left foot feels like a block of ice. Sometimes I swear it feels I am standing in a puddle of water. She tells me nerve damage takes a very long time to settle down. So I do my exercises at home daily. I have never stopped doing my SI joint exercises daily either! I also have self back traction exercises now. These are supposed to be done every two hours! And I use my TENS unit. I have a recheck appointment scheduled with my doctor in just over a week to get some diagnostic testing scheduled.

And I still have headaches from the oven heat and sunlight. (Yes, a headache every day.) The insurance said NO for me to receive Botox shots friends. It basically comes down to, I do not have migraines, so I cannot have Botox. They approve Botox for migraines, not my intractable tension headaches. So I have these appeal forms to fill out. I need the doctor's help on this! Thank God it is cool now. I mostly am fine now. :) Praise the Lord!

Junk. Junk. And more Junk. BUT.... Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. 2Thessalonians 3:16

Off to stitch an ornament! How about you? Are you working on any Christmas gifts yet?

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. What a blessing you are in my life. Truly! Have a super week!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

So sorry about your health problems, it's awful that you have pains day after day. And I wonder that despite of your pain you be able to create beautiful stitching. I really hope you will get some help for your pains.

Oh dearest Vickie, this is not good news that the insurance company refuses the Botox for you. And so sorry to hear about the additional nerve pain coming from the disc bulge. Yes, it takes a lot of time for nerve damages to get better and finally disappear. And I hope that your daily exercises help.
Nevertheless you still stitch and it's a blessing that you can do it. Your little October piece is so sweet.

Oh Dear Vickie,
I am just so very sorry that you have all this pain every day! Just getting through a day is so challenging while dealing with one thing but now more? You are truly amazing though my friend because as I see it you rise above all this and create the most beautiful stitching and still care for your family! You are awesome!

Your October stitching is really lovely...I love the color you chose....just perfect!

I am praying for you not only for a relief of pain but for continued strength! Sending gentle hugs your way!

I did find the ornament that Emily fell in love with over the weekend and quite a few others that I fell in love with as well...lol! I forgot about some of them....grins....busy, busy, busy that is what I need to become!

I hope you have a good Monday!

Great verse, thanks for sharing it! Your October finish is so cute, I'm eager to see a photo of the whole shelf again. Yes, I am frantically stitching Christmas stockings for my granddaughter. Even my youngest son said "mom, you do this every year!!" Oh boy, if even the sons are noticing that I continually get myself into a stitching jam, things are REALLY bad! haha

What a lovely October design. Your choice of thread is perfect; the changes accent the pattern perfectly. I so wish there were a way to alleviate your pain without all the hoops you're forced to jump through. I'll definitely keep you in my prayers.

October is gorgeous and the thread colour is perfect.
How upsetting about the insurance though, why does it always come down to money? If it works, you should have the treatment! Hope the appeal succeeds.

Dear Vickie,
I really do not like to hear that you are not doing well. Now the back as if your headaches were not already pain enough. I'm sorry and I pray for your recovery.
All the more beautiful is your embroidery, in the warm autumnal colors. A pleasure!
God forbid you, my friend.

The colours in your October piece are perfect for autumn.

I'm so, so sorry the botox was turned down - so stupid. If the doctor says you need it, you should get it.

And back pain as well! So unfair - I do hope you get some answers and some relief soon.

Oh my sweet friend I was so sad to hear about your back trouble along with the headaches. I am not a fan of the insurance industry that dictates to the doctors what they can prescribe to a patient for their illness. I pray that you get relief soon and this period is behind you.
Blessings

Oh, Vickie! I truly wish I had known about your back pain earlier! I have the same thing and first I need to share with you that you need to get that MRI. Second, stop the exercises! These only aggravate the condition - especially the nerve pain. I had this same injury and my doctor told me that rest is the best thing for it. It allows things to calm down and heal. Also, the TENS machine may not be the best thing for this. It can aggravate the nerves and make the tingling and numbness worse. If at all possible, try to get a spinal injection (be sure to be sedated for this!) to help the nerves calm down and give the bulge some relief from the swelling. Just make sure you go to a pain management doctor who has done this before and knows what they are doing. A neurologist can also do this type of shot. My pain management doctor does my shots and uses a machine (x-ray or ultrasound? Not sure) to guide him so he gets everything in the correct spot. Of course, you know about Gabapentin for the nerve pain. I'm so sorry to write a novel but I am so concerned for you! I am so sorry that they did not approve the Botox injections for your headaches. I do pray that you can get them to change their minds.

Praying for you, dear friend! I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know how hard it is!! (((hugs)))

Blessings - Julie

Every day pain must be horrible to deal with, Vickie--and now to have not only the headaches, but the back/leg pain, too :( My mom deals with the latter due to her osteoporosis and has found some relief from cortisone shots. Insurance decisions are ridiculous sometimes. I am going through something that has been denied, too, and it is so frustrating.

Hang in there and keep up your pretty stitching--hopefully, that takes your mind off your pain at least temporarily...
