Flowers of the Month

Hi friends! This is the latest little stitch I have completed.

🌻Flowers of the Month: July & August by Praiseworthystitches🌻 Both of these patterns are from the current issue of JCS. Since I stitched them for my cubby shelf, I stitched mine one over one on 25ct linen(except the berries on the October piece. I did those over two), so I had to leave off the over one word at the bottom. I also skipped the border. I used DMC and VMSS. I have had the September one done for a long time. That one was on display and in the cubby shelf last month. I finished the October one the last day of September.😉

I altered my mother-of-the-groom-dress this weekend. The straps needed to be just barely, barely shifted over in the back and shortened just a tiny bit. Would you like to see my dress? I saved a picture from the their site from way back in the Spring when I found the dress at TJMaxx online when all stores where still closed and I was looking online.

I also stitched on Baby It's Cold Outside. This is a very special sampler that is being jointly stitched by our local stitching group. We are mailing it to each other and each stitching a bit and passing it on to another friend to stitch a part and so on, until it ends with Barb. She will finish the stitching and then get it framed. This piece is to be a gift for Leanne's Mom and Dad. I think this is SO neat. I think they are going to be really, really touched, don't you? For those of you not familiar with Barb and Leanne, they had a Flosstube called Lost in Floss. Barb now does this by herself, because dear Leanne died in January of this year from breast cancer. Leanne was Barb's best friend since high school. Baby It's Cold Outside was a SAL Barb and Leanne had together. It was HUGE on Instagram!

The part I stitched on this piece, is "the woods", or the five pine trees to the right. I am now mailing it off to my friend Chris. She is then mailing it off to Barb.

This is the second book in the Kate Waters series. She is a reporter. This is a British crime series. I really enjoyed it.

As an old house is demolished in a gentrifying section of London, a workman discovers human remains, buried for years. For journalist Kate Waters, it’s a story that deserves attention. She cobbles together a piece for her newspaper, but at a loss for answers, she can only pose a question: Who has been found at the building site? As Kate investigates, she unearths connections to a crime that rocked the city decades earlier: A child was stolen from the maternity ward in a local hospital and was never found. Her heartbroken parents were left devastated by the loss. But there is more to the story, and Kate is drawn—house by house—into the pasts of the people who once lived in this neighborhood that has given up its greatest mystery. And she soon finds herself the keeper of unexpected secrets that erupt in the lives of three women—and torn between what she can and cannot tell...

I hope and pray you are staying safe and healthy wherever you are my friends! Wisconsin has a COVID spike going on. We have remained pretty much sheltering in place all these many months anyhow, so we will just keep on that way. We are fortunate that Brian works from home.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” —2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Stitching and praying,

Vickie

I am so sorry Leanne passed, it is so hard losing a friend.

The two latest flowers look lovely, did you get the months right in the description?
The dress is gorgeous, very Vickie! I do hope we get to see some photos of the day.
I think it's a wonderful idea to stitch the sampler as a Round Robin, so much love has gone into that piece. It's a beautiful memorial.
