Little Women

Hi friends! Did everyone have a good Christmas? We did celebrate with our children and family, but Brian and I are still waiting to celebrate on January 7th, since we are Orthodox Christians.

I would like to share with you the gift I made and gave my Mom.
✨Doodle Angel by Daily Cross Stitch✨ Every year I stitch her an angel or a cat ornament. Her two favorite things! This was stitched two over one on 25 ct cream linen with the called for DMC.

💙💙Winky💙💙 I finally made the time to make this ornament for our dear daughter Madeleine.
I stitched this portrait of her parakeet Winky eleven years ago when we first got him. I stitched this onto his cage cover. The pattern is from the book Picture Your Pet In Cross Stitch. This is a wonderful remembrance of him , and Madeleine said she does not want to pack it away with the Christmas ornaments, but keep it out. 💙🕊️

I am now stitching Brian's Christmas gift. I am 25% done I think! I have plenty of stitching time this week. Go me!

How many of you have read this? I specifically remember looking at this book on the grade school library shelf. I had it in my hand. I really pondered it. I put it back. It seemed too long. I chose another one instead. I just finished it about 40 years later!! And wOw!! I LOVE this book! I have Good Wives next in the series on order from our library. Can't wait!! AND we went to see the movie last night as a family! It was SO good. There are differences from the book. I am not going to spoil anything for you. If you want to know more, ask me! I will say, bring tissues! Have any of you seen it? I have never seen any version of the movie before. Oh! And who is your favorite chararcter? Mine is Jo.

“You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry.” Psalm 10:17

I am so glad you stopped by today my friends! I am praying for several of you.💗 I do thank God for all of you today!💗

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Your mom's and daughter's gifts are precious, Vickie. I'm sure Madeleine misses Winky so much. Do you think you'll get another bird?

Hope you get Brian's gift done by the 7th! I have stitching time, but am coughing so badly from the flu that it is hard to stitch. Ugh!

Glad you enjoyed the book and movie. I've never read the sequels so I look forward to hearing your opinion :) Happy New Year! ♥

Such lovely ornaments!! The angel for your mom was very pretty. Plus I loved the parakeet one for your daughter. What a nice way for her to remember him. We are going to see Little Women on New Year's Day.

Hi,
I've just enjoyed browsing through your wonderful stitching! Also your finishing is beautiful and gave me some ideas. ☺️
I have quite a few of the patterns you've already stitched, and I do long for stitching and finishing mine!
So much stash - so little time...
I wish you a great year of stitching 2020!
With the best of greetings from Sweden,
Anna-Carin

Such a pretty angel and I'm sure Madeline will treasure Winky's ornament remembrance. I saw Little Women with my sister on Sunday and I loved it!! I read the book in 3rd grade....well, an abridged version! Happy New Year to you and yours Vickie!

Lovely ornaments, Vickie! I went through a Louisa May Alcott stage in my early teens and read every book of hers I could get my hands on. Her writing is timeless. I'm eager to see the latest movie. I think I've seen all of the movies made so far, plus last year's version on PBS and a made-for-TV version years ago. Happy New Year!

I love the little Angel, such a sweet design and lovely muted colours, It's a very clever idea to make Winky's cage cover into an Ornament she can keep for ever.
Glad you enjoyed the film, even if it made you cry!

Both gifts are lovely, how sweet that Madeleine wants to keep hers out year round. I would too!
How sad, not only have I not read it, but I have never seen any of the movies. It is something I'd like to do... but which of the many movies to watch?!
