💖💚💚💖

Hi friends! 💖💚Here is the December Cubby Shelf Display💚💖
🎄 Here is the December Corner Shelf Display🎄There are several gifts from friends from over the years displayed here. The tiny piece with the 🦌🎄❤️in the white frame is from my Madeleine. She stitched it when she was 12 years old and framed it herself (with a frame from my stash!). It was all a surprise to me!🥰
The winner of the LK pattern Merry HoHoHo is: Martina!

I am currently listening to Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Have many of you read this? When? I never read it as a girl. I specifically remember looking at this book on the shelf in our library at our public grade school in fourth or fifth grade, thinking about checking it out. I decided it against it. It was too thick. 😉 That, and I preferred stories about animals.

I think you  can guess why my interest is once again aroused in this book, can't you? Are you planning on seeing the movie? We are! I am NOT a fan of seeing movies once I read the book, and I have never seen a version of Little Women believe it or not, so I hope I will NOT be disappointed. It will be interesting to see if they keep the wonderful morals and teaching about God in the movie.

This book is set back in the 1960's, a simpler time. I enjoyed listening to it from the start for just that reason alone! This book has so many lessons learned along the way about pain, death, friendship, bullying.
New Bremen, Minnesota, 1961. The Twins were playing their debut season, ice-cold root beers were selling out at the soda counter of Halderson’s Drugstore, and Hot Stuff comic books were a mainstay on every barbershop magazine rack. It was a time of innocence and hope for a country with a new, young president. But for thirteen-year-old Frank Drum it was a grim summer in which death visited frequently and assumed many forms. Accident. Nature. Suicide. Murder. Frank begins the season preoccupied with the concerns of any teenage boy, but when tragedy unexpectedly strikes his family—which includes his Methodist minister father; his passionate, artistic mother; Juilliard-bound older sister; and wise-beyond-his-years kid brother—he finds himself thrust into an adult world full of secrets, lies, adultery, and betrayal, suddenly called upon to demonstrate a maturity and gumption beyond his years. Told from Frank’s perspective forty years after that fateful summer, Ordinary Grace is a brilliantly moving account of a boy standing at the door of his young manhood, trying to understand a world that seems to be falling apart around him. It is an unforgettable novel about discovering the terrible price of wisdom and the enduring grace of God.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:12-13

Thank you for stopping by today my friends! I hope you have a stressfree week!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Both the cubby and the corner shelf look great in the December finery, Vickie.

Again, another book (Little Women) that we read bits and pieces of in school, but never the whole thing. Thanks for the recommendation of Ordinary Grace.

Enjoy your week!

Vickie: Your shelf is almost full, are you going to start another? I think Madeliene did a beautiful job of framing, it is a lovely Sampler.
Your corner shelf displays many lovely items, that tree is adorable.

Merry Christmas

I love your December cubbies and your corner display too. Madeleine's little framed piece is so cute! Yes, i read all the Little Women books, not just Little Women, as a girl. I think I read some of them as an adult too, a re-read. I've been thinking of re-reading again. lol! I've seen the Katharine Hepburn version of Little Women. Can't remember if I saw any other versions, but definitely not the Winona Ryder one. Never saw that one! I'm looking forward to this new version. I think you should expect a lot of feminist outlook in it. Looking forward to it, that's for sure!

All of your decorating is looking very festive and pretty. I have seen, I believe, all the versions of Little Women. It is a favorite of mine and I do hope to see the new version. I hope my DD and I can see it during her holiday break. We saw the last version together.

I have no idea why, but I never read Little Women. I honestly don't remember being assigned any books to read while in school, except a Shakespeare which I didn't get!

Your corner shelf looks so pretty with all the little gifts.
I am happy that I won, I can then embroider the small motif for the next year.
No, I don't know Little Woman, but thanks for the suggestions.
Have a good time. Hugs Martina

I love Little Women. It's one of my all-time favorites. I have the last release of the movie and do watch it over and over. It starred Winona Ryder and Susan Sarandon. I only wish I had the original release from way back when. You will enjoy it.

I just love your cubby. I read an abridged version of Little Woman when I was in 3rd grade, my Dad brought it home from a business trip. It was very unusual to get a gift other than BD or Christmas so it was special and I loved it. I didn't know a movie was coming out but I'll be sure to see it.

Your cubby and corner shelves look wonderful for December, Vickie! And yes, I read little women and a couple times at that :) I definitely want to see the movie, but really have no one to go with. It would not be my husband's first choice, let's put it that way. This is when I really wish I had a daughter :) Enjoy--I heard it's supposed to be excellent!

Love the December cubby, it looks like the most populated out of the whole year!
Your Christmas displays are lovely too.
I read Little Women many years ago, my Mum had a copy from her childhood. I read the follow-ups too. Obviously Jo was my favourite character, and not just because of her name!
I did find it odd that they were supposed to be so poor but had servants. Much like the children in many of the E.Nesbitt books. If you haven't read them I do recommend them. A great portrayal of Edwardian life in England.

No surprise, December's cubby looks great! The one Madeleine stitched you is precious, what a treasure. I spy your framed Mary's Sampler, it's lovely. I really should frame mine as it's been finished for ages.
Sad to say, I've yet to read and/or see Little Women. I'm guessing I should read it first?
