Stitchy Stuff

Good morning everybody! I hope today is a great one for you.♥ I got word from Maggee that she received my gift to her. She has been so good to me this year with patterns and linen. I am hoping she does not mind that I lifted these pictures off of her blog! What a dunce I am. I forgot to take a picture before I mailed it to her.

My gift to Maggee
Bottle cap Pincushion with Counting Pins

I used two books to help me in making this: Pretty Little Pincushions by Lark Books(from the library) and House & Garden Samplers by Mary Jenkins(my own book). Most of the flowers are ones that are in my own garden.

This is the closest Needlework Shop to me. It is about 20 minutes away. It is in Elm Grove, where Brian grew up and his parents still live.

This is what I bought with my gift certificate from last Christmas still! I know! I can't help it. It is just in me to be a saver. Brian was happy I used the gift certificate up finally. Only problem is, I DIDN'T!! I still have $25 left! This stash only cost me $12! Yes, you guessed it. I shopped the clearance bins. Did I not mention I am thrifty? This was my second trip trying to spend it all.  I think the Rabbit Stitcher is adorable.♥

I purchased the John James size 28 petite needles. I like using them, BUT they bend easy. Do any of you have this problem? Are there stronger short needles out there ladies?

Hot Cocoa Rose

Still stitching on my gift. It uses mainly the Ghiordes Knot. That will get you thinking! ;)

Take care my friends. Have a peaceful, restful Sunday.

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

What a lovely gift for Maggee! She is a real sweetie : ) Looks like you got some good stash from the sale bin! I've noticed my needles bend as well. I use the Bohin 28s. I thought it was just my big Herman Munster hands that were bending them but perhaps everyone has this problem? It really doesn't matter ... they work fine even with a little bend in them : )

Hello! You are too kind about me! As for needles...I have tried them all, and maybe they are just not made for continuous use! Mine bend a bit at the top, then the eye breaks! Sometimes I know it is going to break, sometimes I find out the hard way! Nice haul of stash--and what a great deal on the prices! I don't USUALLY mind waiting till something goes on sale either. You act as if frugal is a BAD word! It is just being SMART! Intelligent! Etc! Hugs!

What a lovely pincushion you made, so pretty! How wonderful you have a LNS so close to you, I am jealous! :) Mine is about an hour away, probably better anyway or I would be there every week!
Not sure what needle may be better, but I hear Bohin's are really good. I use really long needles, the double pointed kind so I don't have to turn them around while stitching.

Lovely post, love what you made for Maggee, so sweet.
Love all your stash , wish we had sale bins like that over here , that would have cost a fortune here.
Love your beautiful flowers. Hugs.

What a beautiful bottle cap pincushion you made for your friend! Love the stash -- you really are a bargain hunter! Wow! I would have burned up that gc in no time. lol! As for JJ 28 petites -- that's what I use too. I soooo wish Bohins came in petites. I actually wrote them and requested it. Fingers crossed they actually make them someday! I haven't found a better solution yet.

Love the pincushion!! And way to go on the purchases! I love clearance bins. :)

I have also been using JJ 28 petites and they bend easily on me, too. I thought it was ME so I'm kinda glad to know it's the needles!

That pincushion is so lovely. I know that Maggee will treasure it.
Your new stash is fabulous too. You are lucky to have a needlework store near by.
Your last summer flowers are lovely.

Such an adorable pincushion, Vickie--we have that book at our library, too. I should take a closer look at it. I'm so jealous that your LNS is only 20 minutes away--my closest is almost an hour. Not worth the drive any more with the price of gas :( Luckily, there is one just five minutes from my parents' house and I visit them each month!!

That's a great gift, the little pincushion. And so creatively stitched and finished.
Having a LNS within easy reach is such a treat. And the fact that they have a sale's bin with all these wonderful charts is another treat. You're a lucky lady.
When I have a gift certificate it's just the other way round - there's never something left, lol.
