Pretty Gifts

Hi friends! I received a pretty surprise in the mail yesterday. That is always fun, isn't it?! This package came all the way from California from our friend Jenny.
A pretty surprise
A sweet basket of PINK flowers for ME
Isn't this sweet on the backside?
Now I have to say, pink with white polka dot scissors make me smile! :) "Summer Splendor" is a pretty pattern Jenny. I will think of you as I stitch this.Thank you so much!

I finished The Snowflower Diaries July SAL yesterday. You know I love it because of all the pink right? ;) I actually think the flamingos are too pink, but I did NOT change that, because well, hey, it is pink!!!! I did make several changes. First, here it is.
I stitched this one over one on 25ct Bo Peep Pink Lugana using DMC ,VMSS and Wisper. I only used the White Wisper for the chick. Everywhere else white was stitched in the pattern, I stitched two over one, otherwise the white did not show up on this pale pink fabric. I only used  VMSS in 'The Perfect Rose' in place of DMC 3777. I used DMC 471 instead of 834. I backstitched the flamingos wings with DMC 963 instead of 3854. I stitched up the corner roses in the border as pale pink/DMC 963 instead of white. ;)
Now I need to make myself do some finishing I have set aside for toooooooo long. Then I will reward myself with another start. At least that is the plan. I need to be STRONG. Stitching is more fun than finishing, but this is for a special friend. No more excuses!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend my friends! My American friends, I hope your weekend is filled with parades and fireworks and patriotism!! This will be my first Fourth I can recall that I have not gone to a parade or fireworks. I just cannot. Even if it is cool, the noise will make the headache soar. So I won't. The three kids will together as always. Maybe I can convince Brian to join them too. No sense in us both hanging out here at home. It is okay. We just walk several blocks to the parade route. At night for the fireworks, it is a mile walk to the park. I can see them from the backyard, kind of. ;)

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Hi Vickie: Love the Flamingos, the color is perfect, the flamingos I have seen in Florida are the same color that you stitched on your Sampler.
We watch the fireworks from our bedroom, no icky bugs biting us, we have mosquitos and horseflies, no bites makes Catherine a happy lady.
The gift you received is lovely I love the fact that she stitched on the backside of the ornament, and the pink scisors so cute.

Blessings
Catherine

Hi Vickie,

I am so glad you like your little surprise. I had so much fun stitching up the scissor fob, that little butterfly made me smile too :)

Your July finish is just lovely! Flamingos have always made me smile and I love to stand and watch them. Of course their color is also a big draw!

I hope you and your family have a good weekend. Our 4 th will probably be quiet as well :)

Hugs my friend!

Absolutely lovely gifts, Vickie :) And your snowflower SAL for July is really pretty! What a pity you'll miss the fireworks, but best not to anything to aggravate the headaches! Have a wonderful weekend

Lovely stitching, both given and received! We haven't gone to see the local fireworks for several years, but thoroughly enjoy watching A Capital Fourth on PBS. I'm sure you'll find it a good way to get your fireworks "fix" and hear some inspiring music.

Such perfectly pink gifts from sweet Jenny, Vickie! I stitched that Summer Splendor chart a few years back and just love it--I know you'll have fun stitching it, too.

And your latest SAL piece is so tiny and sweet--love the fluffy chick.

I'm not a fireworks fan--prefer to just stay at home and watch "A Capitol Fourth!" Hope your weekend is relaxing...

July is another pretty one. Surprise parcels are the best and what lovely treats you got. I'm sorry you will miss out on the parade and fireworks, but better be smart than in pain. Our July 1st has been rainy, but it has stopped at the moment and I hope it will hold off so we can have our fireworks.

Hi Vickie,

O dear, I am late! Busy with my two last days at work and now de-stressing, it takes awhile LOL
Jenny sent you a lovely gift! I can tell you she always makes the loveliest of things, amazing ... Your fob is so sweet!!! Jenny made me two fobs, both with our beloved Amish friends. I 'live' with them, we chat and do things together, Sem is my little helper .... okay, I stop now ... you know I'm a strange creature on this planet. I wish I could say I use them everyday, but I see and chat with them daily, that's for sure :)

Enjoy, dear friend. Have a happy 4th of July tomorrow & hugs,
Carolien

P.S. Your flamingo's are cute, a great finish!

What a beautiful gift! I love the scissors, too. How can you go wrong with pink?! :)

I love how you stitched up the July piece. I love it! I like the changes you made, too. Really makes it pop.

I'm sorry you won't be able to go to the parade and fireworks. That's so hard when your traditions change. Thankfully, we can see the fireworks from our deck so we will be staying home, as always. Have a wonderful 4th of July!

Blessings - Julie
