Hands On Design

Hi friends! I wanted to share the Hands On Design May finish with you days ago, but the headaches have been extreme, and I found myself often unable to stitch. I have it done now though. Here it is.
This pattern is found in the May 2014 issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework.I stitched this one over one on 25ct New Khaki linen using DMC and VMSS.
Take a look HERE to see what the pattern is supposed to look like. Mine looks a lot different. Madeleine pointed out to me how nice the colored chart looks. And yes, in the colored, symboled chart, the colors are more pink. I don't know why, but they are, instead of the purplish colors of pictured finished piece. So I matched flosses to the colored chart. Never did that before. I changed every, single color except  420, the light color in the basket.  I also completed the basket handle. I could not leave it that way. I don't understand it that way!

I have been reading the first book in the series by Stephanie Barron, Jane and the Unpleasantness at Scargrove Manor. This book begins with a most interesting, true discovery. If you are a Jane Austen fan, I KNOW you will love this book and the series! I was searching for a way to explain this new information about Jane. The easiest and best way, is for you to read this short page HERE.
Then tell me, did you know this?! I surely did not. How fascinating!

I did go to the pain management doctor on Wednesday. She told me three times (because I asked three different times) that the facet injections in my neck did not cause the headaches.  She said since my headache location is across my entire forehead and both temples, this is not from the injections. She says the injections "may have" triggered the headache, but not caused them. WHAT?!?! I have temporal arteritis she believes. Again, WHAT?!?! This is an inflammation of the arteries in your temples. What next?! She put me on a medication for headaches(which will take a week to work) and advised me to make an appointment with my family doctor. I saw my family doctor yesterday. She ordered bloodwork to see if I have inflammation going on.I am awaiting those results.

I will have two more April finishes for the cubby shelf to share with you next time. Thank you for stopping in with me today. I appreciate your friendship. Have an excellent weekend my friends!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Oh, I'm so sorry the doctor wasn't more helpful, Vickie. Temporal arthritis??? I do hope this new medication helps out--how frustrated you must be with all the pain and never-ending doctor's appointments and medications...

Your little May piece is lovely in the colors you've chosen. I often change colors to more represent what is actually shown on the photo--after all that is why I purchased the chart in the first place, right?

Take care now...

Another lovely finish. Your's looks more rustic than the photo, very pretty.

Honestly though, sometimes Doctors just make things up! My Mum had terrible trouble with her teeth but the doctor insisted it was her sinuses and had them flushed. When this didn't work Mum got the dentist to take out the offending teeth. The pain went away but the Doctor insisted it had been psychosomatic then!

Ugh, headaches again! Do you feel like you're getting the run around from the docs? I do hope and pray that you receive relief from pain soon. Hugs!

Your May basket is lovely. I feel your frustration with the pain doctor; that title alone sounds like she should be able to help you with a diagnosis and proper treatment. I will certainly continue to pray for you.

I have read all of the Jane Austen mystery series and really enjoy them. I have recently finished one of her latest which was centered around Christmas and I think may be one her best yet.

Oh Vickie I am so sorry about those headaches....I too was asking WHAT? I really hope this medication will bring you some relief and that an answer can be found soon! Your stitching is just lovely and I love the color changes, I think they are just perfect for this design. I'm still praying for that miracle :) I hope you have a good weekend and I look forward to seeing your next finishes.

Oh Vickie - I do not know how you keep your spirits up when you continue to suffer from severe chronic pain. I hope that solution is found quickly.

Huh??? And just what is the difference between "causing" and "triggering"? I'm SO sorry Vickie, this has been such an extended, miserable time for you. I pray it will end soon.

Lovely little finish.

Beautiful stitching. I feel for you with your headaches. I had a run of them a while ago, and they were all across the forehead which was a first for me. They are no fun at all and I hope you stop getting them very soon. I sure hope mine don't come back! x

I love your May finish :)

Sorry to read your headaches are not going - have you considered or have you seen a chiropractor. I've been going for five years now and the treatment has helped keep my neck in alignment and therefore d=reduced my headaches ((hugs))

Your May finish is so sweet but I have to ask, what is the difference between triggering the headaches and causing them? Splitting hairs, if you ask me. Look after yourself, my dear friend.

Brigitte said...

I have just read Kaye's comment and although English is not my mother language but I don't see a difference between to trigger and to cause either. But there is not always sense in what the doctors say. I just hope that your family doctor will find out more.
