Autumn Adventure

Hi friends! Thank you! Thank you so much for your kind words and sweet welcome to Murphy.

I got two tiny gifts stitched and made up and sent along their way to two friends last week. I also stitched on a SAL I am participating in. It is called "Autumn Adventure". It is a small  40x43 finished piece. You can find the SAL RIGHT HERE. It is not too late! This is my progress thus far.

Sandra you are quite right! You guessed it! I now have to stitch up Murphy for my kitchen sampler wall as well. ;) I will wait a bit to do him, as I need to begin Christmas ornaments. I am behind already. And this wrist will really slow me down.

I have a question for you my friends. Do you know of a floss color that is like a light black? Or a very, very dark grey. I have all the options for DMC, and I am still not happy with them. You see, Murphy was a black poodle. Since he is an elderly gentleman, he is sporting quite a bit of grey in that black coat of his. I took my time getting the colors right for Mabel and Henry. I want to do a nice job for Murphy as well. Any suggestions are very much welcomed. Thanks!

Can you guess what I am stitching up for all three of the kids' ornaments this year?! ha! ;)

Maija, I have been sending you emails on the other email address of yours that Sari gave me to use. I hope you are finding my messages?

I am currently reading Where I Am by Billy Graham. Wow. A truly amazing book. He is filled with much wisdom. I would love to sit and talk with him!

Just a little bit of stitching going on around here. I continue to have persistent wrist pain.

I hope you have a blessed week in the Lord my friends!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

3799 is the darkest grey, but it might be a bit dark for Murphy. 53 is a variegated grey, but it probably has too much light grey in it. It's hard to really match fur, isn't it?

The falltree looks great.
You can use one thread of black (310) and one thread of grey (413 or 317).
Greetings, Manuela

Good morning, Vickie. Well, your mystery SAL is definitely a mystery! I can't even begin to guess what it is. LOL I went to the page you posted...nope, still can't guess. LOL Have a great day!

Vickie, I think you're going to have to go to an overdyed or maybe use two different colors of DMC held together. I have a spool of HDF silk which is black with a little bit of gray going thru it that I'd be more than willing to offer up for Murphy. Just let me know.

Looking forward to seeing more of your SAL project, very intriguing.
I was going top suggest blending 2 differing DMC's to get the colour you require.

Lovely new SAL Vickie .
I am not sure what colour you could use maybe a dark grey and black together.
Have a good day hugs .

Oh my dearest Vickie , I look forward to if you embroider the sweet rascals . What do you think of them if you mix 310 of DMC with Grey 169th Could the flaps 'm not sure but maybe it's worth a try . Your new SAL is again very interesting , looking forward to more pictures . Hug you
your Sandra

the colors on Autumn are pretty. Maybe you could blend 310 and 3799? I hope your wrist gets better soon. Take care.

I vote for blending black and a medium gray, Vickie--try a few combos and see which you like the best for Murphy :)

Your new SAL looks so very interesting - but I don't have any idea what it will be. Maybe after the next colour will be added ...
I'd also go with some blended threads. Depending on what grey you choose you should be able to find the perfect mixture for Murphy.

What a fascinating way of doing a SAL. I am very intrigued!

I'd suggest the colours others have said 3799 or 413. One technique I like is to do the bottom /// in one colours and the top \\\ in another colour. This can look more like fur than simple blending.

Welcome, Murphy! Why not try blending colors? You can stitch him with one black thread and one gray thread. I love doing that, it gives it a great effect!

Looks like you've gotten some good suggestions here for your dilemma Vickie! Maybe you'll have to do some testing to see which gives you the result you want. Can't wait to see the project!

I have knitting on the brain. All I can think of for Murphy's fur is a marled yarn. Do you know what that is? It's a yarn that basically has two colors spun together to make one strand. I bet it would work great for Murphy's fur, but I doubt there's such a thing as marled embroidery floss. Ah well. Hope that wrist is improving.....

Don't know if you decided on DMC blends yet. If not I was thinking Onyx by The Gentle Art, or Garden Gate (more a deep dark grey) by The Gentle Art. The only problem with the over dyed threads is that no control on matching skeins. Hope you find a great blend of DMC. love Annette
