Pink Gifts

Hi friends! I am unable to share my current stitching projects with you and it makes me crazy! ;) I have SIX gifts I am creating. tee hee! Need to get to the post office real quick!

I received some lovely pink fabrics all the way from the Netherlands from our friend Carolien. You can see I have the fabrics cut into the tumbler shapes already here.
Carolien was my inspiration to get going on this Epic Pink Charm Tumbler Quilt once again. Thank you Carolien!

Our friend Marlene also sent me some pink fabric.
Oh man! Check out the one with the Vespas! We used to have  a Vespa. :)  Thank you Marlene. I now need 71 more pink fabrics to reach the goal. ♥

Thinking of pink (and who doesn't? Quiet now Rosey ;), here is a sunrise from a few mornings ago.
Here is a sweet pewter poodle thimble we won on ebay.
That is everything I have to share with you today my friends. Thank you for stopping by. I hope the rest of your week is super!

Matryoshka

Good Morning friends! It is supposed to get above freezing tomorrow. Yay! It has not been above freezing in weeks. Today is the funeral service for Brian's 94 year old grandmother, my MIL's mother. This is the grandma that we took Henry to visit last month. It is a blessing for her to go Home. She had advanced dementia.

Do you remember the freebie I stitched last month. She has been waiting for some finishing. Once I realized she could not live in my snow globe, I knew what I wanted to do with her. Check it out.
Isn't she just adorable this way? I love her. Yes I do!
She is stitched one over one on 28ct evenweave with DMC 815. I hand stitched her to the backing fabric. Turning her right side out was challenging. She is so tiny! I had applied Fray Check to the edges of the evenweave. Very glad I did that! I covered a tiny washer with a bit of matching fabric. And hot glued it in place. I was going to use a dime for the base, but that was too big!!

I found 3 thimbles on ebay recently. Two of them were pewter and I could care less about them. It was the third one listed as " a metal poodle thimble" that I wanted. I felt guilty for a bit, since I knew, just knew this was an unmarked silver poodle thimble I have been wanting for half a year. They rarely come up on ebay or etsy. When they do, they sell for more than I want to pay. However if you persevere and are a poodle nut like me, you watch and wait! Some of them are marked sterling or .925. This thimble came to us as dark as the pewter ones. I got out the silver cleaner and went to work. It took a lot of work, but just look at it now! =)
Love. LOVE. LOVE!!! All three thimbles were bought for the total of $6.00. Hooray! Deals still can be found!

We still have to shop for a few of the children from the Dove Tree. We will do that today.

We all went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug last night! Wahoo! What a great movie! I was not ready for it to end. And it was 161 minutes long!

Have a super day friends! I am hoping all is merry and bright in your world. Take care!

SALs

Hi friends! How are you today? I hope all is well. I have been working on an applique quilt. The piecing is all done. I need to baste the top, batting and backing together next.

I forgot to show you my PSS SAL. I got this stitched up right away on Sunday. ;)

I have been stitching away on the Barbara Ana SAL too. Just take a look.

I took this picture yesterday afternoon. Sorry Vicki, Annette and Donna, but I finished it last night!! I just enjoyed this stitch so much. So you might wonder why I showed you a picture of it unfinished? Well there are two things more I added to it after this picture. And they are both my own little changes. Stay tuned! ;) I will be back next time with a picture of it all finished up into a pinkeep.(Remember, I stitched mine all over one!)

The geraniums are still bright and beautiful.
The dahlias are still blooming too. I bought two varieties of dinner plate dahlia tubers this spring on clearance, for a few dollars. This is one of them, the first to bloom.
It measures almost 9 inches across. It is the same size as a paper plate.♥

Brian bought me this little apricot glass poodle thimble. Henry is apricot and I do not have any apricot poodles in my collection.
Have a stitchtastic day my friends! I thank God for YOU!!

Rabbit Stitcher

Good Morning my friends! How are you? It continues to rain and be cold here. Going on a few weeks straight of this. How dreary and depressing. It doesn't help my hurting body at all!

I found a small treasure at Good Will last week. Paid a whole dollar for it. ;) This sweet, little wooden chest had two strips of gold foil on the top and down the front. I peeled that off. I have had the sweet, little pattern "Rabbit Stitcher" by Little Treasures Designs in my stash since last year. Got that pattern at my LNS for a dime! ♥
I used fabrics from my stash to create the little topper for this small treasure chest.
I stitched this as directed, one over one on 28ct evenweave. It is 1.25"square! Love it! Do you see the little rabbit's needle?♥ I used some silver DMC floss for that. Actually, not one color is the called for color. I changed it all. None of it seemed quite right.

Did you notice I referred to this as a treasure chest? What's the treasure you say? Well, take a look!
I figure this will be a nice home for my poodle thimbles. Not the fancy, schmancy one Brian just got me. She is on display in the china cabinet. ;) But this pretty, brass poodle will live here. I hope to add other poodle thimbles. Ah,yes, this would be a new obsession with me. tee hee! Hey, obviously Brian is more than willing to help with this! ;)

I am reading A Skeleton In God's Closet by Paul Maier. Pretty good so far. I am also working on making up an ornament for Madeleine. She stitched Mac, our beloved Kerry Blue Terrier almost 3 years ago. It is on aida. And yes, it has mistakes. Madeleine would have been 12 then, so it is what it is. Not perfect, no. But she made it because she loves Mac and she wanted to do what mom does, stitch. So it is time for it to come out of that drawer and become an ornament.

My pain has really been elevated. Would you mind praying for me friend? I would truly appreciate that. And God always loves to hear from you. =)

Take care and have a blessed day in the Lord!

Vickie

ooOoo!

Hello friends! I have been having extra pain this week. So this surprise could not have come at a better time! Looky, looky!!
Isn't it gorgeous?!? I MAY have an ebay problem. ;) I check for poodle thimbles. They certainly do not come up often. This Kirks Folly beauty was just for bid. I knew it would be more than our budget. I am a penny pincher. Brian, not so much. ;) So I showed him it and said "Oh well!", and I truly, honestly meant it. None of this hint, hint stuff. I love to get deals on ebay.
So I was completely and utterly stunned and speechless(this is hard to do to me my friends) when Brian presented me with this. He said he was so happy it brightened up my day. I was feeling rather blue from the pain.
He had just gotten me this beautiful pink rose before the thimble came. I was so happy with just the rose. =)
Brian takes very good care of me, and I love him.
I baked this challah bread yesterday. I use the bread machine for the dough and then braid it up, let is rise and bake it. num, num, num. It is a Jewish recipe for Sabbath bread. I have been making it for almost a dozen years now.
Hey Trace! This picture is for you. =) This was my maternal grandmother's rooster. This pretty violet, which matches the rooster, blooms in the spring for me every year.

I wish I had my Easter stitch to show you. I used up a whole, new skein of DMC 746. Thanks to percocet, I had to unstitch a bit. Now, I need just a tiny bit more and I will be done. I went to our JoAnn, which is liquidating. It is closing. A new and bigger one is opening soon. ALL of the DMC 746 was gone. It was there last week!!  Off to Michael's today then.

I will be back soon with the finish and maybe more. Have a happy day friends! So glad you came by.♥

It's Time!

Hey everybody! We did it! I have surpassed 100 followers, and quite obviously that could never have happened without you. :) This is amazing to me. Thank you.

So you know what we have to do now. Give away that Christmas Friends chart.

If you would like the chart, be or become a follower of mine. Also please leave me a comment stating that, right here on this post only please. I will draw a name on Monday July 9th.

I thought I would show you what I bought with the last bit of birthday money.

Money well spent, right? It's a poodle thimble!! I can't stand it! It is a little big for me. It fits my middle finger pretty well. I love it. ♥

You can see she even fits in my needlecase I made last year. The pattern for this 'housewife' needlecase can be found here. I used vintage pink ribbon for it of course.

The Bent Creek Bunny chart arrived in California with Annette.♥

Hello new followers, I am glad you found me. :)

We are still having temperatures in the 100's! More stitching time again today then. :) Hope you have a stitchy day too!
