Calendar Poodle SAL

Hello From Poodletown!

Hi friends! I did not give up on that peter pan collar. I took it all apart and started over again. I made up my own template. :)  Here it is all finished.
Here is a close up of the fabric I used.
I am stitching up the July SAL Snowflower Diaries pattern right now. I have a long ways to go yet. Stitching has not been easy this week due to headaches.

The neurologist says he thinks the headaches are most likely not from the steroid injections, but we do not know what caused them. We must accept this and move on. We have to focus on finding something to comfort and find relief for me. Yeah well, that is not working. I have been a 7 or 8 on the pain scale every day this week.(The weather has been hot.) I am only allowed to use 7 Imitrex tablets a month. I have to take one, then one two hours later for them to work. Well that works out to only 3 times a month for me. Then I get to use 10 Tylenol days a month? The rest of the month I am to rely on ice packs?!  I am told I need to accept it. So, yeah. I think this is going to be a very looooooooooooooooong summer. This has all certainly increased my prayer life and THAT is a blessing.

I received some excellent advice yesterday afternoon from Ren. She told me to get a super eye exam. The neurologist told me this also. If you can believe it, I actually forgot. Pain does that. Messes up your mind sometimes. So, I made an appointment for next week with my eye doctor. Thank you for that reminder Ren!
I do hope you are enjoying the summer my friends. I normally do. I love to get out and enjoy my garden. I also love to explore new parks and gardens and festivals. Have you been to new places? Tell me! I would love to hear about it, since I will be mostly homebound this summer now.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends! May God richly bless you.

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

So sorry that you are still in so much pain. Your beautiful smile in the photo sure hides what is going on in your head. Stay strong!

That collar is so cute and retro. Perfect to go with a 50's circular poodle skirt.

I've been remiss in blog reading and didn't know your headaches had returned with such a vengeance. I don't like that neurologist's reasoning at all. Sure hope there's a better solution out there for you.

Vickie: I am so sad that this is happening to you, I am still praying three times a day for you and other friends of mine who need prayer for healing.
I do hope they find out what is happening soon, maybe a second opinion if you have not done this.
Love the collar, great idea to dress up a plain top.

Blessings

First off let me start by saying I am sorry to hear about those headaches. My Mom use to super with super migraines as does my Brother. I could not even imagine the pain you are in. Prayers that something comes along to ease those headaches.

As far as that collar..... CUTE! Summer is just starting to get into full swing here and this year is going to busy! Get together with stitching friends ,Family reunions, a surprise party back north and possibly a few beach trips. Usually our summers are very quiet not this year LOL

Have a great week and I hope you can have some slight relief from those awful headaches

I am so sorry you're not getting headache relief. Perhaps the eye doc will be able to help.
Your poodle collar is adorable! You did a great job on that.
I am trying to get the July SAL done too but it has been a slow go for me, as well. I am just too tired to stitch in the evenings lately. Maybe my energy will come back and your headaches will go away. Here's hoping!!!

Oh, Vickie, I had so hoped for better news. I'll continue to pray for relief for you, and for cooler weather. Your persistence certainly paid off with your Peter Pan collar - it looks great, and I love that you can wear those cute poodles so near your heart!

Your poodle collar is wonderful! Those headaches have a hold of you like they had with me a few years ago. Has the Neuro talked about putting you onto a long term preventative medication? I was on one for about 2 years and it made a huge difference in the number of headaches I was getting.

Dear friend...Dennis and I know only too well the pain of the migraine and the Imitrex dilemma. Insurance limits our prescription also. Eye exams are important with these headaches. Love the collar and those beautiful flowers.

Sending prayers your way sweet friend. I am sorry the headaches are back. Great idea about an eye exam. I will keep you in my prayers. :)

I love your new shirt. The collar is just perfect. :)

I keep saying I am gonna start those awesome flamingos any day now...but then I always see a new crochet/knit pattern that catches my eye instead. But I totally want to stitch them, they are adorable.

Wishing you a lovely day and most lovely weekend, too sweet friend. :)

No summer adventure for me Vickie. I go to my swing and back. So sorry your pain has increased again. Your photo is lovely, great job on the collar.

So sorry that you are still suffering from those awful headaches. I know that you have been getting professional advice, but I have to ask if you have looked into acupuncture. I have never used it myself, but a friend swears by it for her sometimes debilitating headaches. I understand if you ignore this. I certainly wish you some pain free days in the near future. Incidentally, I love that peter pan collar.

Why am I not surprised by the fabric? the collar looks great - good job!

Blast those headaches! I hope the eye exam will tell you something.

What a great peter pan collar. You need to change doctors Vickie - seriously - you cannot just 'accept' the level of pain you suffer from.

I'm really hoping you find some comfort and relief soon, Vickie! Your collar is super cute :D

So sorry to hear about those pesky headaches. I do hope you find answers soon.
Your new top looks lovely with your bespoke collar. Are you known as 'the poodle lady' in your area?!! :)

So sorry about the headaches. :( The hot summer is not your friend, that's for sure. I've been having the same sort of problem with meds from my doctors for arthritis pain -- oh, you can only take it so much, can't take it on a regular basis. OK, so how does that help me? Sigh. I've just been living with the pain, like you. Prayers for you, my friend.

I have to tell you -- I've been following this little tiny pig on Instagram! Not in your area, so it's a different little pig. So funny! And cute!

Your Peter Pan collar looks great! Hooray for perseverance! And love the stitching finish from your last post. (I've gotten behind in my blogs again!)

Oh Vickie I am just so sorry about those headaches! Honestly I wish I could just be there to help. The eye exam is a good idea and I hope that maybe it will tell you something more. It looks like my summer is going to be quiet too :)

Your collar is just precious and looks lovely with your shirt. Congratulations on figuring that out! Sewing is just not one of my strong points so I really admire someone who can! I hope you have a good weekend my friend. Hugs!

Good for you having the patience with the collar - it paid off and looks great.
Hope the eye doctor can give you an answer, good luck Vickie.

Congrats on getting the collar done. Sorry to hear about your headaches. We were discussing a co-workers constant migraines and eye exam was recommended and to find out about teeth grinding at night. Continued prayers that you can get some relief.

You managed to sew this collar perfectly. Great job, Vickie.
I'm so sorry to read that the heat has such a bad influence on the level of your pain. A good idea to go to the eye doctor, maybe they can do something for you. I keep my fingers crossed for you.

What lovely poodle fabric!
Sorry to hear that the headaches are worsening again with the weather. I wonder if the doctors had the headaches themselves if they would be so blase about living with it?

Your collar looks wonderful! It's also a GREAT photo of you!

I'm sorry to hear that you are still hurting. :( An eye exam is a good idea, my dad aways sees an opthamologist versus an optician because they are higher skilled and he is diabetic. I hope you have some relief SOON.

You did a lovely job with your collar and such a cute fabric! I am so sorry to hear that your headaches have worsened. I'm not sure I would like being told that I just have to accept things the way they are. It seems in this day and age that there would be some answer. I admire your strength in dealing with this. You continue to be in my prayers, Vickie, sending you a gentle hug.

You look lovely, hope the eye doctor can help you to be pain free with some advice and help. xx

Success with the collar--yay! Considering the challenges you face daily, to even function, that deserves a BIG YAY! Love the flowers! Hugs!

Yay! You persevered and your collar turned out so cute, Vickie! I know I would have had a tough time with those curves...

I hope your eye doctor is a help... I just can't believe this pain is something you'll just have to live with. There must be an answer out there some where...

I love your collar, Vickie! I have that exact same fabric - a lot of it! When I found it, I bought what was left on the bolt. lol Of course. How often do we find poodle fabric? So sorry to hear that the origin of the headaches are unknown.Still praying!
