Progress

Hi friends! It has been bitterly cold here. Madeleine had school cancelled on Thursday and Friday due to the cold, windchill and snow storm. The boys have not returned to college yet, still enjoying the Christmas break.

Thank you for your encouraging comments on my ornament finish. :)

I am itching to stitch a small, but I am pressing on with Theotokos. Here is my progress.
I listen to two daily radio programs and read a daily devotional by Joni Eareckson Tada every day. Joni and her husband Ken have been reading the Bible together for years. That is something Brian and I do daily also. However, I decided this year to additionally read along with Joni and Ken. They use the Chronological Bible Reading Schedule If you click on that link, you can download a copy of the reading schedule for yourself. I am happy to say that so far I am keeping on track. It really does not take very long each day to read several chapters. I have read the entire Bible before. That was years ago, and I read it cover to cover. This will be different. Joni says that "when you go through the Bible chronologically, you see God's plan of redemption beautifully laid out from beginning to end."

So tomorrow, after we return home from church, it is Ice Bowl II time. Do you know what that is? If you live in Wisconsin or Texas I guarantee you KNOW. Click here to find out more.

Stitching and praying,
Vickie
She's smarter than I am

Theotokos is awesome! You are making great progress. :)

I have followed Joni for years. I am always inspired by her. After I read her book about her early life and how she came to be in the wheel chair, and how she started to paint with her mouth. It was then that it hit me, talent is not in our hands, it is in our spirit, for nothing can stop it from flowing from us, we are creative beings because He, our Creator, is so creative. She is really very inspiring. Thanks for the link.

Blessings always sweet friend. :)

Oh my, Vickie, your progress on Theodokos is just amazing.BUt I can understand that you long for working on something small, just to make a difference. I am the same, I love stitching on my big projects, but every now and then I need asomething small.

I'm amazed at how quickly Theotokos is coming together, Vickie--you must be a fast stitcher :) Really so detailed and beautiful.

I still remember when I first read about Joni Eareckson way back in high school--so very inspiring!

Congrats on the great progress! You are a more patient stitcher than I that's for sure. Good luck surviving that cold. I'm currently visiting DC and the threat of an ice storm shut the city down for a couple hours this morning -- -but I bet it is not a patch on your cold!

Wow! The Theotokis is really coming along! Are you stitching her 1 over 1? It looks like you are. Love the ornament you made for Brian. It's such a sweet design. I adore the one you made for me and can't wait to put it up with baby for our next Christmas!! Hugs and prayers...nursing a flu and staying at home today.

Hello Vickie,

Your Theotokos is quite a project, good luck with it! Must be an equivalent for your daily Bible readings, an icon also focuses, like a meditation, isn't it?!
Thank you for your kind comments on my blog, you're in my sidebar now so that I can follow you better.
Love your poodles, by the way ...

Have a good day & Dutch greetings, Carolien

Your icon is coming along and looking lovely. Years ago, I read about a class on painting icons, and that sounded so interesting to me. I didn't take the class, but I know I might enjoy that one day! Beautiful!

Lovely stitching on Theotokas Vickie. It would have been my Dad's birthday on the 10th Jan. I was feeling a bit low,and read a lot so completely missed your post in my feed. I searched it out as I sure you would have posted recently:)

WOW! It's like magic how much you have gotten done on Theotokas. To me it seems you are stitching this much faster than when you stitched it for yourself. I had 98 percent of the Bible read. Good for you keeping on track with your readings.
love Annette
