Hi friends! How are your Christmas preparations coming along?! I have my Christmas cards sent done and sent out. I am waiting just a bit for my cross stitch friends on my list.😉 Those are going out shortly! But they are ready and waiting. The number one thing that is still stressing me out is that my kids' Christmas ornaments will be late this year.☹️ Every year they get an ornament in their Christmas stocking for St. Nick's on the 6th. I do not always stitch the ornament each year, but mostly I do. The hold up was the special linen from Ye Olde Stitchery. It finally came and it was too dark. Then I ordered an alternative from 123Stitch. So I have begun stitching one of the ornaments. This year all three of the ornaments are the same. They have a little blue bird in them. It reminds me of Winky, our parakeet that just died. I thought this would make a nice piece for this year.
I did make progress on the baby sampler piece in the meantime. It is set aside for now. I will finish it once all three ornaments are completed.
I have the cubby shelf done and the wreaths up. That is it for decorating so far.🤷♀️
I do have a Giveaway Pattern for you! Courtesy of our friend Robin This is LK Merry Ho Ho Ho.
If you would like this pattern, you need to be a sidebar follower of mine, and you need to leave a comment on this post stating you would like the pattern. I will draw a name on Monday, December 16th.
Have you read Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier? I know this is a classic, but I never read it til recently. Wow! What a great book! I loved it very much and highly recommend it!
"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderly again." With these words, the reader is ushered into an isolated gray stone mansion on the windswept Cornish coast, as the second Mrs. Maxim de Winter recalls the chilling events that transpired as she began her new life as the young bride of a husband she barely knew. For in every corner of every room were phantoms of a time dead but not forgotten—a past devotedly preserved by the sinister housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers: a suite immaculate and untouched, clothing laid out and ready to be worn, but not by any of the great house's current occupants. With an eerie presentiment of evil tightening her heart, the second Mrs. de Winter walked in the shadow of her mysterious predecessor, determined to uncover the darkest secrets and shattering truths about Maxim's first wife—the late and hauntingly beautiful Rebecca.
I am so glad you stopped by today my friends! I won't be back again until the giveaway or until I finish an ornament completely! Whichever is first!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Stitching and praying,
Vickie

I'm done with most things, I still want to hang up my collected cards, bake cookies and I want to finish my Christmas cards this week, so I can send them.
I'm going to punch you in the thumb that you can finish with your 3 ornaments in time.
A very pretty pattern of Robin, I like to hop in your Lostöpfchen.
No, I have not read the book, I still have 8 others in front of me that I would like to read, but I'll remember your tip.
Have a good Time, my friend, Martina
My home is decorate. Now I will start writing with the christmas cards and stitching a nice little Santa.
The three ornaments for your children will be wonderful.
I never read this book, but I saw the movie. I like this movie.
Have a nice week, Manuela
I loved the book and the film - so atmospheric. I like reading a classics novel at this time of year when I'm curled up on the sofa all cosy and warm.
I've not written any cards yet but the tree is up, decorations done and most of the presents are wrapped :-) I was late finishing the grandchildren's ornaments this year, i haven't done much ornament stitching at all.
I have that chart in my stash :-)
It's disappointing when you buy fabric online & it isn't the same when you get it. :(
I have my terr up & am putting out my Snowmen today.
Have a great week!

I'm feeling your pain, Vickie...way behind this year...I haven't done a thing Christmas-wise except start the grands ornaments...trying NOT to panic!!! Take a deep breath....somehow things always work out for a wonderful Christmas!
What a sweet idea to have the ornament also in memory of Winky.
Please do not include me but that is an adorable Santa!
Decorations are done in and outside. ?Cards? not even started! I never read Rebecca but it does sound interesting.
Cards are done and I've started decorating. Still need to get the tree down from the loft.
Take a deep breath, everything will work out OK.
Vickie, I am sorry that your original fabric was too dark when it finally arrived. But I am glad you found something more suitable and have commenced stitching. I am sure your kids won't mind them being a bit late.
I have only read a snippet of Rebecca and that was back in HS (I think).
I haven't begun decorating and won't for a couple more weeks. I have a sort of routine for Christmas preps -- wrap/package gifts that need to be mailed, write Christmas cards, decorate and then wrap the local gifts. It works for me so I continue.
Have a super first week of December!
I thought I was early this year , but still writing the last few cards out .
Sorry about your ornaments for your family hope you can catch up.
We are not to far away from the Cornish Coast Devon is next to it .
Enjoy your week .
Sounds like you're having a stress-free Christmas so far (other than the fabric mix-up)!
Your kids will still love their ornaments even if they are a bit late, Vickie :) I remember reading Rebecca way, way back in middle school--should really read it again as I remember it left quite an impression on me.
Still have the tree to put up and cards to get out. No presents have been purchased because no one has any ideas. We'll be having a very quiet Christmas with just four of us.
Your children will love the ornaments whenever they get them. Too bad about the linen color. That is just the problem with having no LNS. I am in the same boat as you. I read Rebecca years ago, your description makes me think I should read it again.
Rebecca is an awesome book. Mrs Danvers was always so creepy in her actions and movements. It's a great story. I'd love to throw my name in the hat to win that cute chart, but I don't think it's really fair since I am still working on the other one I won a while back, but if there are no rules against it, I'd love to win his cute little self. Gosh, Robin is so nice to always send out charts to be given away. I'll have to put a word in for her with Santa this year :). I bet you get more stitching done than you realize. You are a super fast stitcher, I have faith in you. ((hugs)).
Hello Vikcie, My home isn't decorate yet !! But we think dio it this week-end :) .The ornaments for your children are wonderful.
Have a lovely day,
Isa
Hi Vickie: I like the idea of homemade ornaments, I am so sorry you will not have them ready in time.
This book looks like a book for me, I will have to get to the library again.
I am almost done decorating, getting ready for the Christ Child Luncheon on Friday, I believe this will be the 48th year, it is always the first Friday of December.
We have a new decorator this year she does amazing things, the last Lady was also a great decorator.
Have a beautiful week.
Catherine
Shame about the ornaments for your children but I am sure they don't mind.
I haven't done much at all yet, it's only the first week of December. The cards that need posting will probably be done this weekend.
Vickie, YOur ornament sounds like a very thoughtful gift for your children, a nice way of remembering your twinkie. I'm sure they won't mind that it's late.
I have done nothing so far for Christmas, I usually don't decorate early. But, I have nothing done this year so far and I"m refusing to stress over it. I never read Rebecca but heard it was a great book, I'm glad you enjoyed the classic.
I'm behind on blogs as always. Loved seeing your ornament finish on insta. Rebecca -- so good! There's another of her books I've read too, but of course I can't think of the name at the moment.
Oh Rebecca! I read that in high school I think for a novels course I took. I should read it again. I remember really enjoying it. You are way ahead of me on your Christmas preparations! Good job! :)
