Time To Start AotH

Hi friends! I have begun AotH. :) My fabric came on Saturday. Did any of you guess that I would be stitching it one over one? Yep! That is what I am doing. I am using 25 count cream Dublin linen. I am much happier with this color than the 25 count Golden Flax I was thinking of using. That has kind of a grayish or dingy tone to it.

When I had originally planned on beginning AotH years ago, I bought 4 different 40 count linens in different colors. I just could NOT make a decision. What a blessing that indecision was! While stitching on 40 count would make the sampler small, I am so glad I never began. I like this new plan of stitching the whole sampler on 25count. I thought it could not be done. Must do two over two and leave areas for one over one! I actually discussed this very idea with the local needlework shop owner about 4 years ago!! I REALLY WANTED TO DO THIS! I guess she and I could not think outside the box. And then... AND THEN.. I discovered Nadia. I did not find her blog when she began stitching AotH, but while she was in the process of stitching it. You can see her sampler HERE Wonderful, isn't it?

I do not have that much stitched on it thus far. I have begun with Snow Garden (pattern #1) of course. I am using DMC, and making a few color changes along the way. BECAUSE I am using the front of the patterns as my guides. I have found already that when I pulled the DMC flosses, some of these colors do NOT look like they match the pattern picture at all.

Here is a progress picture I do have to share with you today on 'Forever Be My Always' By Emma Congdon.
Thank you for all of your support and encouragement during the Botox shots. Now the wait is on. The doctor says I should feel results in about two weeks.

Have a great week my friends!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

What a great idea stitching over 1 on 25 count!
I must admit that that wouldn't have occurred to me either, i'm not very good
at changing things from the original.
I don't think i could stitch on 40 count, my eyesight wouldn't take it.

Can't wait to see progress :-)

Going to be fun watching this one grow Vickie, over 1 on 25ct is something I do quite often if I what a more petite design.

The sampler will be lovely....sometimes we wait for a reason. I am loving Forever....Hope it won't be long before you feel the good results of the injections...hang in there.

So exciting! You are amazing -- over one is something I love the look of, but I find it so tedious that I never finish what I start. I'm looking forward to following your progress! Love your Forever Be piece too! Continued prayers for your headaches. Hope you feel relief even sooner than predicted.

Hi Vickie....love the progress on your Forever Sampler so far! Just beautiful! I am so impressed with your fabric choice! Over one on 25 count! It will be lovely! Oh be still my heart! I will be anxious to see what your color changes will be because at some point I want to stitch this as well and will be using DMC too!

Am praying for good results with those shots!

Love the progress on "Forever".

Good luck with the over-one stitching. You've done a lot of it, so you know what you are in for. My eyes have declared a moratorium on it for me, but I love the look. BBD designs seem to always require a lot of individual color mods in my experience.

Your stitching is already very lovely, you make such fast progress. Why shouldn't it be possible to stitch one over one? You're always stitching like this so why did you think it was not possible? Keep my fingers crossed the botox does its work. Love and greets, Nienke

I am soooooo much looking forward to see the first Foto of your AotH!!!
But isn't it much smaller now, that you are stitching it one over on on 25 ct than it would be two over two on 40 ct?
However - can't wait to see the first pictures!

Hugs

Vickie, your Forever project is looking so lovely and good luck with your big project for this year - Anniversaries of the Heart - oh my, you are brave stitching one over one for that ginormous project but it will look stunning when it is done. Hoping to hear great things about the Botox shots in two week's time.

Carol said...

I so look forward to seeing your Anniversaries of the Heart one over one on 25 ct., Vickie! It will be so detailed and tiny--love, love, love!!

Glad your Botox shots are over and that you'll (hopefully, please, please, pretty please!) be getting some relief from those awful headaches very soon...

Oh Vickie, your progress on Forever is fabulous. And I can't wait to see your start on the Anniversaries. You are so good at over one stitching that stitching all the anniversaries on 25 ct fabric is a great option for you.
