Hi friends! I stitched up the January freebie from Palko. I have this wood shadow box or cubby shelf. I want to fill it up with treasures. And so I began.
January is stitched one over one using DMC B5200 on Wedgewood Blue 25ct lugana.
I am now stitching on the February Snowflower Diaries SAL.
I have finished reading A Fall Of Marigolds by Susan Meissner. This book dovetails a historical story around a contemporary subplot.
September 1911. On Ellis Island in New York Harbor, nurse Clara Wood
cannot face returning to Manhattan, where the man she loved fell to his
death in the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Then, while caring for a fevered
immigrant whose own loss mirrors hers, she becomes intrigued by a name
embroidered onto the scarf he carries…and finds herself caught in a
dilemma that compels her to confront the truth about the assumptions
she’s made. Will what she learns devastate her or free her?
September
2011. On Manhattan’s Upper West Side, widow Taryn Michaels has
convinced herself that she is living fully, working in a charming
specialty fabric store and raising her daughter alone. Then a long-lost
photograph appears in a national magazine, and she is forced to relive
the terrible day her husband died in the collapse of the World Trade
Towers…the same day a stranger reached out and saved her. Will a chance
reconnection and a century-old scarf open Taryn’s eyes to the larger
forces at work in her life?
I really liked this one a lot. The 1911 story centers around Ellis Island. We took a family vacation 5 years ago to New York. We were on Ellis Island. Very interesting to learn more about it. I cried once while reading this.
I had a recheck appointment Tuesday with the orthopedic doctor who
had ordered the physical therapy. I told him the pain and pressure have not
gone away since his exam on December 1st. He put me on prednisolone. This helped greatly the first two days, now not so much. I have a MRI scheduled for next week.
Oh Lord, be my comfort, my courage, and my strength this day.
Thanks for stopping in today. I am so glad you did!
Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Prednisilone!!! I go hyper if I have it for my Asthma,it gives me the initial energy of a marathon runner, then comes the big slump.I have to be very good and just stay calm and not be tempted to do that marathon:)
I hope you get something useful out of your appointment.
Oh wonderful, you are stitching again, Vickie. This is great. And you started a great project filling these cubby holes with stitched pieces. A fantastic plan. Your first little stitching is a perfect start.
Good morning, Vickie. Your finish is so delicate and soft. I'm glad you got in some stitching, but am sorry that you still have pain. I will keep you in prayers that they give you a true answer soon.

Hi Vickie, Your stitching is just lovely...I love the delicate snowflakes. The Joyful World SAL is just adorable with the fox and the ducks....I just may have to stitch that one...grins....The book you read sounds really good. My Grandfather came through Ellis Island. I will have to check at my library. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a great weekend.
Lovely stitching - very effective white work :-)
Sorry for your pain sweetie =/ Hope you can find a solution for that soon!! It's taking a long time... Hope you will find someway for the pain to go away for good!!
Lovely white stitching, I'm curious to see what will come next :)
Hi dear Vickie,
Lovely finish and what a wonderful colour that must be, Wedgewood Blue, the name alone :)
I often wonder where you find all those poodles to accompany your posts, amazing! Do your own poodles do the research or what? ;)
Take care and have a nice weekend, Carolien
Love your stitching it is so sweet and so you.
Hugs & xxxs .
What a cute finish, and I love the way you're displaying it!
Hello Vickie,
lovely little finish. It looks great.
The new SAL from Snowflower diary is very cute. I like it.
Have a nice weekend, Manuela
Your cubby will look so cute all filled with your special stitching and other treasures, Vickie... So sorry that the prednisone is not helping this time--hopefully, the MRI will provide some answers! Hang in there--I'm sure it's not easy...
January fits perfectly in that cubbyhole! One done! I like the sound of that book, and will see if the library has it! Did I ever suggest Nancy Moser books? She is a really great writer! I have read almost all of her books! They are good to snuggle up with on a snowy day, like today for me!! But... I have a headache, so I may have to wait to read or stitch... Hugs!
It looks lovely. I hope you'll have a pain-free weekend. Take care.
Continued prayers for strength for each day and an end to your pain!
Dear Vickie thy January by Palko has become beautiful. In white and still as enchanting in the wooden box . I really like it. Nice that you also Snowflower Diaries embroider , I'm just in February and also this month is so much joy as already the last .

Glad you are able to stitch again. Very nice January. Hope you can get some answers and relief after your MRI. Continued prayers for you my dear.
Hi Vickie, You know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad that you are able to do some stitching. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't do my embroidery. I like when others pick the pattern and I just do the stitching. I am making two wedding presents right now. At least I have time. Take care and I will say another prayer tonight. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend. Shirley
This is a beautiful January stitch, great start. It looks really pretty already.
The finish is lovely -- nice that you are stitching. But not good on the pain. :( Prayers for you being said.
Pretty little finish, what a lovely idea.
Hope the scan can help to get you some answers and relieve the pains
It must be bliss to be stitching again and to have such a sweet finish. Will all 12 fit in the frame?
The Snowflower SAL is very tempting but so far I've just downloaded the charts.
I just adore all your over one stitchings and this small piece is lovely!!! We are here happy because the weather has changed and there is only -7C instead of -28 !!!!:) :)
Lovely little finish and such a terrific place to put it.
Hope you get some more answers.

The Snowflower stitch designs are so pretty. It's interesting to see how everyone is finishing them.
Sounds like my kinda book you've just read. I need to go see if I can find it for my kindle.

Hi Vickie, that January project with the soft blue and white is so delicate. Lovely stitching. I too am working the Snowflowers SAL, though my cross stitch is not as fine as it should be, I still enjoy the process. Sorry you are having pain and hope they get to the bottom of that soon.
I'm so glad that you're stitching! It's good for your well-being. :) I hope that you get some help with the pain! Praying for you!
Blessings - Julie
What a cute stich and clever way to fill the cubby box :)
I've not read any of Susan Meissner's books, but will be taking a peek at them!
Vickie: I am so happy to see you have stitched some, I like the idea of a shadow box and stitched pieces in each box such a great idea.
I do hope they can find what is causing this horrible pain.
Blessings
Catherine
