Cross Stitcher In Residence

Hi friends! It will be another lovely, warm day here. The nights have been wonderfully cool. What is your weather like?

I received Cross Stitcher In Residence from June last year. It has been patiently waiting in my "must stitch folder". I stitched this last week, and made it into a knob hanger. It now hangs from a knob of my grandmother's china cabinet.
I stitched this one over one on 28ct lambswool, using DMC. The pattern calls for 2 over 2 on 28ct. I left 3 of the colors the same and changed 4 of the colors. This is what the actual pattern looks like.

You might notice, I pinked it up!! ;)
I had every intention of stitching this as charted when I received this. When I sat down to actually stitch it this last week, I thought, "This house should be pink. If this is for me, it needs to be pink!"
I used tiny, vintage, pink ric rac trim. I backed it with a solid pink of the same color. I decided it needed just a little something up top, so I made a pale pink, crackled glass beaded pin for the center.
I love this sweet, little finish. Thank you June. This pattern was originally gifted to June by Karen (no blog). June introduced me online to Karen this year. It turns out Karen and I live 20 minutes from each other. We have not met in person yet, but I am sure we will one day. Isn't that neat? This little pattern came from the same LNS I shop at, because it is Karen's LNS too.=) But it made it's way to me through June in England!!

Would you like this pattern friend? You may have noticed, I like to give almost all of my patterns away after I stitch them up! ;) Well, I have been thinking. And I have been wanting to ask a question of you, just 'cause I am curious, and just for fun! So if you would like this pattern you must first be a follower. Second you have to leave me a comment here telling me you would like it! And thirdly, answer this question. No answer = no pattern. ;) It's easy! This is the question: What color purse(handbag) are you currently using this summer? Yup, that's what I was wondering. I will close this giveaway on Thursday, August 15th.

For more fun, you can guess what color purse(handbag) I am using this summer. ;) tee hee! You need to be rather specific, okay?. It is one color. It is unusual. And we have all heard of it and know it! BUT probably not your first guess! That is all I am saying. IF you can actually guess the color it is, I have something for you too! I do believe no one is gonna guess this!!!

There! That made this giveaway a little different and fun =) So glad you came. You brighten my day with your visits. Mabel and Henry say hi!!  Have a stitchtastic day my friends.

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Hello Vickie

What a lovely finish and I like the way you pinked it up.
I would love to stitch this pattern please.
My purse is black ( I know, really boring!). I bet yours is pink!
Have a lovely week (:

The finish is perfect and the colour scheme is so YOU! For that reason I am guessing PINK for your purse.

I would love the chart to give it my personal touch. My purse is purple but my handbag (which is what we call a purse in the UK) is recycled brown leather. It was made by a lovely lady who uses old sofas, leather jackets, skirts etc to make gorgeous bags.
They are very distinctive (her signature is a diamond applique on the reverse and bright linings) and whenever you see another bag you must say to the owner "I see you know Helen"!!
ps what we call a purse I think you call a pocketbook? It contains our money and creditcards.

Hi Vickie, I love your stitching and enjoy seeing pictures of your Mable and Henry. I hope the meds is approved soon Insurance companies can be very slow regardless of how bad it is needed. My purse is a dark steel gray with the initials SKJ embroidered on it in Lavender. I think your purse would be some shade of pink. Hope you have a wonderful day and I will keep praying the pain goes away. Many Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend.

I knew before I even scrolled down to the photo that there would be pink changes in the pattern! If I'm chosen as the next stitcher, I think you'll see a bit more blue. Just sayin'. I'm reasonably certain you're carrying a pink purse. Mine, for now anyway, is turquoise and lime green. I know, I know, that seems a bit bright, but when you wear solid color scrubs to work, you "need" something a bit brighter and more colorful to feel prettier!

Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day!

A lovely finish - well done! But please don't include me in the giveaway, I have far too much to stitch as it is!

I have a question, as Jo pointed out in England what you call a purse we call a handbag. A purse is what we keep our money and cards in, so what do you call that if your bag is a purse? Did I confuse with that? I feel like I did. Either way I'm guessing yours must be pink! For me, my purse is a cream floral Cath Kidston one, I love it! For my hand bag it is light brown leather.

Have a great day! xx

I am a follower and would love to stitch this pattern. This summer I bought a new Vera Bradly purse and wallet in colors I don't usually use. It is blue with small yellow flowers with blue centers. So very cute! Please enter me and thank you for the generous give-a-way!

Vickie, your color changes look great! I have stitched this pattern a couple of times and it is a fun, easy stitch. I am switching between a gray purse and a blue/green patterned purse this summer. Please do not enter me in the giveaway as I already own this pattern. I will guess your purse is salmon?!

Hello Vickie, thank you for the postcard in the summer postcard blog hop at Jo's. Such a pretty stitched design you chose to show.
A beautiful finish, I do like the way you have made the house pink, that certainly gives the design a different look, I stitched this many years ago for a stitching friend.
Looking forward to getting to know you now I have found your blog through the blog hop.

Hi Vickie, I'm a new follower of your blog from the Summer Blog Hop. I'd love the chance to stitch this cute design! My purse is red. Since you asked for a specific color guess on your purse that you don't think anyone will guess, I'll choose turquoise, just to be different!

HMM...what color? I am going to guess....yellow.

Of course I would love to play too - so yes please enter me for your drawing. My purse is cream with pink roses and pale blue diamond pattern around the roses - I made my purse myself. Our weather has been in the low 90's daytime and cooler in the nights like you. love Annette

Hello sweetie! What a cute little finish! The design is adorable, so of course I'd love to be entered for this giveaway :D Now, serious topic: handbags!! I love them all and apart from cross stitch are my little fetish :) I'm forever changing mines :P I bet yours must be pink!! Mine at the moment is quite bright: rows of cream. brown, light brown, burgundi & pink (of course!). It's fabric handbag from Fossil and has zips & pockets everywhere!!

Love your "pink" version of this design. I stitched this one a few years ago so no need to enter me in your giveaway :)

Just for fun though is your purse color.......fuschia? I'm boring mine is black and I use it all year round :)

Very cute little finish!
I don't need the pattern (I wouldn't want to waste it by not stitching it up right away) but I'll make a guess just for the heck of it and because the word popped into my head for no reason: eggplant. :)

Hi Vickie!! :D
I just replied to your comment on my blog and started following yours :) I can see there's already a fun giveaway here! :D
First of all, let me say that your finish looks adorable! and I love how you pinked it up ;) hehehehe
I'm a new follower, I think I can play, right? :)

To be honest, I love handbags! I have many but never too many ;) hahahah So I don't use only one but I do have one favorite this season :D One I might be using more often, it's coral =) I can even show you a picture heheheh

Now, guessing what color you use.. not very usual?
Around here, coral and mint are the colors this season! Since I'm going with coral on my own bag, I'll play around and say yours is mint! Did I get it??? :p
I'm sure no one else will say mint! :D hahahaah

Looking for to see the answers on the final day! :D

You are definitely 'in the pink' sorry you couldn't resist. I think your bag is turquoise, just grabbed a colour out of the air. Isn't it a small world. x

Well of course you pinked it up! I would expect nothing less. Love the way you finished it.

I love how your Residence piece worked out -- your color change was absolutely perfect. Congrats.

I'd love to stitch it myself :)

My purse: well "oatmeal" is probably the best description of it -- it's got a sky blue lining though. I have been meaning to change to a new purse my sister got me -- it's spring grass green suede with *gasp of shock* an oatmeal strap and a highlighting pocket of oatmeal with denim blue vines/leaves.

Your purse? I'd go "pink" but you said to be very specific -- so I'm thinking hot pink. :)

Such a sweet finish! No need to put my name in for the chart ~ but I will tell you that I vary between a red, green and white bag for summer!

You have made a super fun post! LOL! How neat that you know someone that close to you.

I love your version of this pattern. The pink makes it looks much softer and prettier :) Lovely work.

No need to put my name in for the draw but I will tell you that my handbag is black. Yes, boring black. I'm going to say that yours is...teal?

Vickie-I love the way you pinked up the pattern, perfect for you! Currently, I am carrying a black purse! I had been using a straw one, but when my son bought me a new one for my birthday last week, I just had to switch. For you, I would expect nothing less than a pink purse of course!

Right now I alternate between a bright red bag and a black bag. My work bag is lime green. So, I'm going to guess your bag is a summery lime green color.
