Praise God by La-D-Da |
I pulled linen and floss last night. I began the first of three Christmas ornaments I will be making for the kids. We have given them an ornament every year for St. Nick's. They are mostly store bought, but sometimes handmade. Last year I stitched them each this Mac ornament, as our dear Mac had just passed in October.

Here is a shot of the little espeliared McIntosh apple tree. It is coming along quite nicely. No apples this year. Maybe next year. We are not supposed to pick any apples for three years.
We are not doing anything special on this Labor Day weekend. How about you? I will definitely be stitching. A little more yard work. So many cherry tomatoes! I will definitely not be growing as many next year. I love them. My stomach does not. Acidic foods cause me to have gastritis. The doctor warned me years ago to control the acidic foods, do not need ulcers! The green beans are plentiful right now. I love fresh green beans. Mabel does too. She runs over to join me in the yard when I go to the vegetable patch. We share green beans right off the vine together. =)
This is little Mabel in the kitchen. This is how she waits for one of us when we are about to arrive back home. She gets a sense of the time for our return. She started doing this after Maggie died, since she is an "only dog". She is definitely a companion dog.♥
Take care my friends. Have a safe, long weekend.
Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Love your finish! Sorry you forgot the french knots -- but that will be quick. :D Such a lovely tradition to make your kids Christmas ornies every year. Love what you made last year and this year's plan sounds perfect. So cool about your espaliered apple tree. It's so pretty! Mabel is a cutie as always.
Congratulations on a beautiful finish, Vickie--have fun "knotting" today :) I am terrible at French knots--not sure what I'm doing wrong! Only one out of maybe 10 ever turn out looking decent!
Look forward to seeing what ornaments you make for your kids--such a nice tradition!
Enjoy your weekend--I'm off to work today :(
Hi sweet friend! Beauty of a finish, great La D Da colors. Thx for sharing your apple tree update, will really enjoy it's progress ~ being so young I wonder how it will fare over the harsh winters. Enjoy your long weekend, wishing you blissful stitchin:)
Whhhaaatttt????? There are french knots in the middle of the flowers?? Well I guess I didn't put them in mine either! Oh well....
I like that you make your children Christmas ornaments each year. That is a very nice tradition that will bring them many memories in years to come.
I like your apple tree. CUTE!!
Your "almost" finish is beautiful. Great idea for the ornaments. I look forward to seeing everything finished! Isn't is amazing how dogs have internal clocks to tell them when we're due home? One day a week I work an hour later than the others, and poor Woody just can't understand why I'm not home yet. He even paces while he's waiting.
How beautiful Vicky.
So funny your friend didnt know about the flowers either.
SO beautiful just the way it is.
We have no big plans either ,but maybe a fun ride.
I too love to make Ornaments for my children for Christmas.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Wonderful finish! Look forward to seeing the Christmas ornies.
Lovely stitching Vicki, looks so beautiful.
Can't wait to see your ornaments.
Never really tried Poppy with beans but she loves a carrot. Have a great weekend hugs .
Very nice....
I love your almost finsih :)I am not so good with french knots but I did read somewhere that a person used small beads instead of putting in the knots. I was thinking of trying that myself the next time.
I wish I could get beans to grow. I don't think I spend enough time with them to coach them along.
Mabel is such a pretty dog. Love hearing about her adventures with the family.
I am a big La d da fan so i am loving this - its a goal of mine to stitch all her designs - wishful thinking I know but dreams are free right? never seen an apple tree grown that way before - it would be interesting to see how it looks once fully grown.
Lovely finish - congrats! What a great picture of Mabel, she's really adorable.
What a lovely piece. Your stitching is beautiful, and one would never know that you left out the French knots:) I would love to stitch it too.
I love your tradition of stitching some very special ornaments for your children every year. They will be treasures for years to come.
Mabel reminds me of our little toy poodle, Meggie, who also loves green beans too. In fact we give her a few each night with her dinner, and she would rather eat them than her dog food!
Blessings for a wonderful weekend!
Lovely stitches and sweet pup!!!
Beautiful finish!!!!!! I didn't even notice the french knots~
Love your little apple tree~~ I think it looks really nice against the wall!!
Beautiful finish. Wouldn't have noticed the missing knots if you wouldn't have mentioned it. It's beautiful just as it is, with or without them.
Congrats on the finish
Mable is adorable :)
Your finish is beautiful but I especially love the sweet picture of Miss Mabel. She's just such a cutie!
Donna

Love the finish!!!!!!!! :)
Hope you are having a nice holiday weekend!
Your stitching is beautiful Vickie. I will watch with interest how your apple tree goes, we have just planted some apple and plum trees recently. Your Mabel is a sweetheart, so dedicated to you all.
Are you making a living fence with your apple tree?
Congrats on another beautiful finish!
Gorgeous finish Vickie!! The French knots won't take too long to do. Super cute photo of Mabel!
