Advent Calendar Blog Hop

Hi friends! Welcome to the 19th day of the Advent Blog Hop. So glad you stopped in. If you are not familiar with this, you can check out all 18 prior days of the Hop, over here at Serendipitous Stitching. Jo will be updating the entries daily. You can see how everyone celebrates, and enjoy some seasonal stitching and discover what everyone's favorite Christmas reading material is.

Every year I stitch my Mom a Christmas ornament. I usually do an angel. Every once in a while I do a cat.

🐱💖💚Mine! by Brittercup Designs Stitched two over two with DMC on 35ct Lambswool Linen

Here is our own Cally cat messing with the tree skirt?, I mean sitting pretty under the tree.

As for Christmas reading, I know I have many fellow Jan Karon fans out there! I did not discover until very recently that there is a book, this book:

It is a sweet, short book. And if you are like me, you have to read it, because you want to read EVERYTHING BY JAN KARON!! She is THAT GOOD!
My Christmas wish for you is that you are filled with the real joy of what this time of year is all about. My hope is that you recognize your need of a Savior. Let’s celebrate that God sent His Son to save us from our sins! Advent is the preparation for the arrival of the Messiah in the birth of the Christ Child.

I do have a chart to give away. I stitched this last month. So the charm is not included.
This giveaway is open to everyone. All you have to do is be a sidebar follower of this blog, and leave a comment on this post stating you want the chart. I will draw the name of the winner on Saturday, December 26th.

“Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men’”  Luke 2:13-14

Stitching and praying,

Vickie

Oh what a cute ornament, how cute the cat is holding onto its candy cane. Your tree is beautifully decorated.
Ours is not up yet, we traditionally put it up on the 24th, and we adorn it with gold and red balls.
I wish you a nice 4th Advent, stay healthy.

Dear Vickie,

Your tree looks perfect, especially with the furry friend under it ;) Love your stitches too, great finish.
Oh, Jan Karon! Jenny gave me one of her books and I loved it. Maybe I'll start in it after my (annual) read of The Willows at Christmas and a few others. O yes, must read it again!!!
Have good preparations for Christmas, dear friend!

Hugs and love across the ocean, Carolien

Thanks for taking part in the Advent Calendar Blog Hop this year. You ornament goes so well with Kaye's from yesterday!
Beautiful tree too, hope it survives Cally's attentions.
I would like to be with a chance for the chart, I did the Hallowe'en one a while back.
Thanks for your book choice too, it's been very interesting this year as many stitchers are also avid readers.

Good morning, Vickie. Your tree is so lovely. I have two small trees up, less that two feet tall, each with about a dozen ornaments each. I'm not really in the mood for more. LOL Your kitty is just too sweet. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

Such a lovely Nativity set, Vickie! I have one my mom gave me and it is one of my biggest treasures :) Such a cute ornaments, too! I stitched one of those black Brittercup kitties for my sister one year (the one with the tree) and she loved it. I'm sure your mom will love yours, too. Cally looks so innocent there by your pretty tree--I do miss having a cat in the house, but with my husband's allergies, that probably won't happen again. Enjoy your day ♥

Your kitty-cat ornament is very cute! Your mom's tree must be such fun to see in its glory! Jan Karon is one of my very favorite authors. When we made the fulltime move from our house to our RV, I had to part with my library of books. But I kept *all* of the Mitford series, including Mitford Snowmen! It's a sweet story! Merry Christmas to you! :)

Such an adorable ornament, what a sweet kitty! Lucky Mom. I know I have some of those charts, I really should look for them.
Your tree looks lovely and I'm sure Cally was just fixing up the skirt for you. Our kitties are fine with the tree, it's Chewie who takes off with the skirt, darn dog!
Thanks for the reading suggestion, I was able to find it as an audio version and I'm listening to it now.
Your Nativities are beautiful, Happy Christmas to you!

Your ornament is so sweet and your tree is stunning with all your stitched ornaments. I will look for the book, I thought I have read all of Jan Karon's books but missed this one. I am putting up my tree today, just the lights and ornaments as a new cat adopted us this year and he is into everything! Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year.

Ooooh - that's a Jan Karon book I haven't read!!! It's going on my wish list right now. I love her books!! (as a little aside - have you read any by Jeff High?).
I love your wee kitty ornament - might have to get that pattern & make it for our friends who just got an adorable wee black kitten. Seeing your kittie under the tree reminded me of our last cat who simply couldn't wait to have the tree up so she could climb up inside. She never once knocked off an ornament luckily.
Merry Christmas!
