🌸May freebie by romyfrees.blogspot.com🌸 I stitched this two over two on 28ct white Jubilee using VMSS and WDW. The fabric shown is the backing material. This little monthly pillow did not get a trim. I am working from my stash since the lockdown, and I just did not have one that worked. It seems fine plain.
💐Flowers of the Month: May & June by Praiseworthystitches 💐
Both of these patterns are from the current issue of JCS. Since I stitched them for my cubby shelf, I stitched mine one over one on 25ct antique white linen, so I had to leave off the over one word at the bottom. I also skipped the border. I used DMC and VMSS.
Alice Wright marries handsome American Bennett Van Cleve hoping to escape her stifling life in England. But small-town Kentucky quickly proves equally claustrophobic, especially living alongside her overbearing father-in-law. So when a call goes out for a team of women to deliver books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice signs on enthusiastically. The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything. They will be joined by three other singular women who become known as the Packhorse Librarians of Kentucky. What happens to them--and to the men they love--becomes an unforgettable drama of loyalty, justice, humanity and passion. These heroic women refuse to be cowed by men or by convention. And though they face all kinds of dangers in a landscape that is at times breathtakingly beautiful, at others brutal, they’re committed to their job: bringing books to people who have never had any, arming them with facts that will change their lives. Based on a true story rooted in America’s past, The Giver of Stars is unparalleled in its scope and epic in its storytelling. Funny, heartbreaking, enthralling, it is destined to become a modern classic--a richly rewarding novel of women’s friendship, of true love, and of what happens when we reach beyond our grasp for the great beyond.
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12
I hope you have a very nice week my friends! Stay healthy and safe! God bless you.

Beautiful stitching sweet friend. ((hugs))
I loved this book Vicki, couldn't put it down.
Pretty May pillow, it looks super without a trim.
love and blessings x
Love those cubby stitcheries. Very nice. The book sounds very interesting and I'll add it to the list. Thanks Vickie.
The small pillow is cute and the motif with the flower goes well with May. Your two flower motvies for your storage compartment are also very charming.
So far I've only read a book from Jojo, thanks for your tip, I have to write that down.
How cute little Cally. I love the pictures you show of her.
Take care of yourself

Hello Vickie,

The little finishes for May and June are pefect and so tiny stitches.
Have a nice day, Manuela

Don't you just love it when your cat has to investigate a new box and promptly falls asleep in it. Cally looks so sweet!
The May stitch is so pretty and I think the border acts as the trim. Love your two cubby stitches. I stitched one cubby stitch for a friend and want to make her some seasonal ones to swap out. Your cubby is always decorated so nice seasonally.
Your trio of finishes look great, Vickie! I like the May finish plain! The picture of Cally in the box is adorable. Thank you for the book recommendation; I have added it to my list! Be well and take good care, my friend!
Love your lovely May pillow and your other stitching so sweet .
Cats always love boxes bless .
Enjoy your week .
Such pretty finishes! I enjoyed that book too. We lived in Kentucky for many years before retiring so I could really picture the events in the book. Hope you are doing well and your dear son is staying safe!
Such cute little finishes! I too try to make the most of my already extensive stash these days:) The Jojo Moyes book sounds nice; I sometimes find her books too heartbreaking and sad, but this one sounds 'happier' or am I wrong...??
Cally: Blondie the cats says you look so sweet, what a fun place to sleep.
Vickie: all three designs are lovely, the pillow is so sweet it reminds me of spring with the colors.
Stay Healthy
Catherine
Thanks for the book recommendation. That looks like something I'd like! Cally is so cute!
Lovely finishes Vickie! I am doing the May chart from JCS too at the moment, it's such a sweet design.
Stay safe
Great work. The May pillow looks fine without a trim.
I really like the JCS stitched over one. I was considering that until I realised the lettering was already over one. I do like the series.
I get the feeling that you're loving having a cat in your home Vickie. I'd love to have another poodle at some point but I couldn't have my home without a cat:-)
Both pieces are so pretty, Vickie!
I love seeing all your beautiful stitched projects! I'll be so glad when my fingers aren't numb anymore. I miss my stitching so much!
Blessings -Julie
Cally looks very comfy!
I love your finishes! Especially the May flower. The colors are gorgeous!
Such pretty May flowers, it's so nice to see the colours.
Awe, Cally looks adorable in her box. We have several lying around the house, until they are scratched enough to be replaced!
