Hi friends! I would like to share with you two gifts that I received for my 50th birthday last week.
Our friend June sent me this sweet poodle pattern🐩, bookmark, and ribbon. Thank you once again June!💗
Our friend Donna sent me tea, a bookmark, and floss. Thank you once again Donna!💗
I would like to show you my latest finish. This is 'June Square Dance' by Heart in Hand.
I plan to use this 3x3 mother of pearl frame for the whole monthly series. I stitched this two over two on 32ct evenweave using DMC and VMSS 1795 Sky Blue. I am loving this series❣️
I am now stitching this pattern.
I have had it in my stash for 4 years. I finally want it stitched! I found it at a thrift store for .49 cents!
We have a winner for the SamSarah charts.
The winner is: LINDA!
Have any of you read The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom? Oh boy, is it ever good! I love historical fiction.
Kathleen Grissom, New York Times bestselling author of the highly anticipated Glory Over Everything, established herself as a remarkable new talent with The Kitchen House, now a contemporary classic. In this gripping novel, a dark secret threatens to expose the best and worst in everyone tied to the estate at a thriving plantation in Virginia in the decades before the Civil War. Orphaned during her passage from Ireland, young, white Lavinia arrives on the steps of the kitchen house and is placed, as an indentured servant, under the care of Belle, the master’s illegitimate slave daughter. Lavinia learns to cook, clean, and serve food, while guided by the quiet strength and love of her new family. In time, Lavinia is accepted into the world of the big house, caring for the master’s opium-addicted wife and befriending his dangerous yet protective son. She attempts to straddle the worlds of the kitchen and big house, but her skin color will forever set her apart from Belle and the other slaves. Through the unique eyes of Lavinia and Belle, Grissom’s debut novel unfolds in a heartbreaking and ultimately hopeful story of class, race, dignity, deep-buried secrets, and familial bonds.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic week my friends!

By now I'm almost done with Black Rabbit Hall - you were right, a great book, I think I'll read it again someday.

You were gifted with lovely BD presents! The Heart in Hand series looks to be a fun one, love your pearl frame and your pearly poodle next to it! I find lots of bargains but yet to find any cross stitch patterns. Great bargain on your patriotic design. That book looks like one I would enjoy, thanks for the recommendation.
Lovely gifts from your friends! Love the finish too! So there's a sequel to the Kitchen House, I believe. I need to reread The Kitchen House so I can read the sequel. Hope I'm not remembering wrong! (I'm right -- it's called Glory over Everything: Beyond the Kitchen House. Reviews are good too!) I love historical fiction as well -- it's my favorite genre for sure!
Sweet birthday gifts and perfect for you! Hope you have a great week as well!
What lovely gifts you received, Vickie! Congratulations on your June Square Dance finish! It turned out super and it looks great in that frame. I look forward to seeing your progress on the Sheepish Designs Eagle. Have a wonderful week!
Congrats on the adorable finish and nice start Vickie.
Linda
Lovely gifts and a great seasonal finish too.
I read Kitchen House when it first came out. I remember liking it very much!! I love that Eagle project. You are fortunate to have that chart.
Подарки прекрасные! Поздравляю!!!
Oh your new stitch project looks awesome. I can't wait to see it. Wishing you a lovely day sweet friend. :)
What a cute frame, never saw one like that. Nice to see over 2 stitching!!
I just found your blog. Thanks for the book recommendation. It looks quite interesting. I also love your stitching. I find working on the higher count fabrics quite difficult lately, but I do like how they look.
Your June finish is very sweet! That frame is fantastic, Vickie!
Your mother of pearl frame is perfect for the monthly series, it will be enjoyable to see each month and how the frame sets if off. June is a lovely finish.
Lovely gifts and another sweet finish, perfect for June!
Your new piece is a nice one, will you finish it in time for July 4th?
Lovely birthday gifts for you Vickie. I know you will enjoy them. I have been out of town for about five weeks and I'm just now catching up with all of my blogging friends. I have missed you. Hope your 50th was very special. RJ
Ottimo il tuo ricamo e come hai confezionato tutto. Comlimenti.
Such nice gifts you received on your big 50th birthday, Vickie (boy, does that sound young to me!!). And your latest finish is darling in that pretty frame. I have never seen that patriotic Sheepish Designs piece before, but I love it! What a great find for .49!! I've had that book on my Kindle for quite a while, but haven't started it yet--sounds like another good one!
Hope your weekend is as sunny and pleasant as ours--this is the first precipitation free weekend we've had since February!!
