Woo Hoo! It Is My Unicorn 🦄 Chart!

Hi friends! I have been an admirer of Inga Palmgren's work for quite some time. Are you familiar with her work?  I have desired for half a year an out-of-print book, Christmas Tapestry in Cross Stitch. This book was published in 2009. I have tried and tried and tried to locate this book. No luck whatsoever. Then, I found Christmas Calendar in Cross Stitch by Inga Palmgren and supervised by Yumanashi Hemsloid, also an out-of-print book. This book was published in 2012. I could not find this book anywhere either. This book is basically the first book republished with three additional charts added. And, oh yes, this book is in Japanese.

Well, when I want something. When I really, really want something, I DO NOT GIVE UP! LIKE, EVER!

I remember Priscilla and Chelsea asking on one Flosstube video what my unicorn chart was. Now I had never heard that phrase before. I knew I did not have a chart, but I knew I had THIS BOOK OF CHARTS!

So I put on my thinking cap and I privately emailed our friend yukamikamama and asked her if she could help me to locate this book since she lives in Japan. SUCCESS! She was able to find the book at a store in Tokyo and purchase it, have it mailed to her and then to me, since the store would not ship internationally to me directly.

Here it is!!
Here is a peek inside at a few of my favorites.
When I am going to get to all of these 48 patterns? I do not know! But I will!😍

Thank you once again yukamikamama for your generous help! And the extra lovely, surprise gift that you gave me.
I am still stitching away on the June wreath believe it or not! I made a mistake and had to rip it out. It is hard to stitch while on pain killers sometimes.😒

Which leads me to update you on the shoulder deal. I am still plodding along on the exercises. Ugh. I saw the neurosurgeon on Friday for a checkup after I had the EMG with the neurologist on Thursday. (That was painful!!!) The neurosurgeon thinks I should go ahead and get a manipulation. So we will see if the orthopedic doctor who would do it is in agreement with that when I see him at the end of this month. At this point, I myself want to have it done. I would be under sedation, and it will hurt A LOT, but it would only help to speed up my recovery.
I listened to an excellent book that I highly recommend to you all, We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter. I really, really liked that this book was based on true stories from the author's own family.
Inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive—and to reunite—We Were the Lucky Ones is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds

“Love in the face of global adversity? It couldn't be more timely.” —Glamour

It is the spring of 1939 and three generations of the Kurc family are doing their best to live normal lives, even as the shadow of war grows closer. The talk around the family Seder table is of new babies and budding romance, not of the increasing hardships threatening Jews in their hometown of Radom, Poland. But soon the horrors overtaking Europe will become inescapable and the Kurcs will be flung to the far corners of the world, each desperately trying to navigate his or her own path to safety.

As one sibling is forced into exile, another attempts to flee the continent, while others struggle to escape certain death, either by working grueling hours on empty stomachs in the factories of the ghetto or by hiding as gentiles in plain sight. Driven by an unwavering will to survive and by the fear that they may never see one another again, the Kurcs must rely on hope, ingenuity, and inner strength to persevere.

An extraordinary, propulsive novel, We Were the Lucky Ones demonstrates how in the face of the twentieth century’s darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive.
Thank you for your positive comments left for me last time on my Tootsie stitch I made my mom. She loved it! That is why I enjoy stitching pieces for my mom. She loves every single piece I make her and they are ALL displayed in her home.🤗

I will have a finish to share with you next time. These physical therapy exercises have taken up a whole new chunk of my time for over a month now. I do find time to stitch still though.

Have a super day my friends! Thank you for stopping by!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

So... is that your pink poodle cart?

The designs in the book are wonderful! Glad your friend was so sweet to send it out to you.

What a thrill Vickie! Love the red-work designs - how to chose what to stitch first!

If you really want something, then it comes from the heart, and then you should stick to it, and you have been successful. Gorgeous pictures are in the book.
Your shoulder problems are very persistent. For me, it's been pretty bad for 3 days, and around noon, I hardly get my arms over my head. I think I need a massage again. That had helped me a lot to relax the muscles, and then it went better again.
I Pray for you, hugs, Martina

Vickie, I am glad you were able to find your 'unicorn' chart. I only recently heard that term. Continued prayers for you and your shoulder.

Hooray! I am so happy that you found the chart you were looking for! I know it will bring you many happy hours of stitching 🙂

I am continuing to pray for you my dear friend! Shoulder pain is very difficult and I know how hard it is to get through! You are doing great and you still are stitching! Three years ago when I had my shoulder issue I was determined I was going to stitch too...it went slowly too...

I hope you have a good week my friend. I am hoping your headaches are ok?

Sending hugs and live your way.

What a cute poodle picture!!! I am so sorry to hear that you might need more work on your shoulder. You are still in my prayers! I do know people sometimes have to have that after knee replacement. I came close myself as my knee did not bend as much as the ortho wanted it to. The pictures in the new book are beautiful. I can see why you wanted the book so much. Now I look forward to seeing your stitched pieces.

Those are some lovely designs, Vickie, and I'm so glad you were able to find the book with some help from your friend. I'm so sorry about your shoulder. Hopefully, although the manipulation sounds very painful, it will be helpful in your healing. Lots of prayers and hugs for you! And thanks for the laugh - love the poodle car. : )

I'm so happy that you were able to locate that book with the help from a stitching friend half-way across the world, Vickie! It looks like it will keep you busy for many years to come :)

I have that book on my Kindle ready to read next. Just finishing up one I can't put down--will let you know the title after I'm all finished!

I think the pain of the manipulation may be awful, but will quickly get things back to near-normal. Good luck :)

Hah, finding your unicorn is a great thing! All these charts look right up your alley. :D It's a shame about the June wreath being stubborn and about your shoulder being the same! I hope the manipulation speeds things up and you can dive into stitching ALL THE THINGS again!

That poodle cart is a WOW! but I think I am more jealous of that BOOK and all the redworks it contained. How lucky that you got a stitching friend in Japan to help you ship crossing continents, happy for you and wishing you many happy stitching hours.

I hope everything goes well and the pain will go away

I am also looking forward to the next sweet little poodle, too. Praying for your quick recovery and that you get all the medical help that you need to help that along. Wishing you a most lovely day sweet friend. Blessings always. :)
