One Out Of Two Anyhow

Hi friends! We had a lovely Christmas yesterday. Thanks for cheering me on. I did get my friend Aliona's ornament stitched up and finished and given to her on time. Brian's, well, not so much. Close. Very close. Just not done yet. Here is the one I gifted Aliona yesterday.
Don't you LOVE this?! I saw this pattern just a few weeks ago and I HAD TO HAVE IT!! It is a design by our lovely Dany. You can find the pattern for purchase HERE. However, be aware that this was a complimentary pattern offered when you purchase a pattern called Sampler Houses. It is a very nice pattern, I am just not sure I will even be stitching it actually. What do YOU think of Sampler Houses? What do you think of Peace 2017?

I stitched this one over two on 36 count white linen with the called for 926 DMC. I chose to leave off the top of the pattern. I just wanted the Holy Family. I knew I wanted to make this into an ornament in this shape. I used the fabric you see this lying on to back this with. I will be stitching this up again.

June you have a few bulbs shooting up by you and Inna you have green grass with dandelions! We will be waiting a long time for these things! I took a picture yesterday of the water falls that give our village it's name.
Frozen solid.
The last audio book I listened to in 2017 was The Orphan's Tale by Pam Jenoff. Have any of read this book or listened to it? What did you think? I liked it. It had an ending I did not expect.
A powerful novel of friendship set in a traveling circus during World War II, The Orphan's Taleintroduces two extraordinary women and their harrowing stories of sacrifice and survival
Sixteen-year-old Noa has been cast out in disgrace after becoming pregnant by a Nazi soldier and being forced to give up her baby. She lives above a small rail station, which she cleans in order to earn her keep… When Noa discovers a boxcar containing dozens of Jewish infants bound for a concentration camp, she is reminded of the child that was taken from her. And in a moment that will change the course of her life, she snatches one of the babies and flees into the snowy night.
Noa finds refuge with a German circus, but she must learn the flying trapeze act so she can blend in undetected, spurning the resentment of the lead aerialist, Astrid. At first rivals, Noa and Astrid soon forge a powerful bond. But as the facade that protects them proves increasingly tenuous, Noa and Astrid must decide whether their friendship is enough to save one another—or if the secrets that burn between them will destroy everything.
In case you missed it, I have a Shepherd's Bush pattern giveaway HERE

Today I will finish stitching Brian's ornament. Maybe even do the finishing on it too.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stay warm my friends. I hope you have a fantastic, stitchtastic week!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

Your gift to your friend is beautiful! The waterfall in your town -- yikes! It's cold here too. lol! They remind me of the falls in Middlebury, VT. Very beautiful also. I haven't read that book yet -- it's on my to read list. Hope you are feeling better.

What a beautiful ornament. Simple and elegant. My monitor is way off because it looks like tan linen with dark gray floss. Looks good that color too!!

Vickie, I love the ornament you gifted your friend. So many possibilities for it with different fabric and thread choices. I like the Sampler Houses chart as I can also see many possibilities with it. Hope you see some warmer temps soon!

That is such a lovely ornament, Vickie--and I know you'll have the one done for Brian in no time.

That book is on my Kindle line-up. I'm currently reading (very slowly--it is 600 pages!!) one that you might also like called The Invisible Bridge also set in WWII Paris and Hungary.

Enjoy your evening!

I love that ornament. I try to keep much of my Christmas stitching around the true meaning of Christmas. However, I did do one Santa this year. Vickie, I read that book and liked it but sadly, I can't remember the ending. Do I read too many books or am I just getting old??!!!!

I think the ornament is just beautiful, Vickie! And I love Sampler Houses, too. She has some lovely patterns. This bitter cold is no fun, but those frozen falls are kind of pretty -- I'm hoping for an early spring. : )

Hi Vicky,
A beautiful motive has this little trailer.
Madness, it must be cold with you, I'm glad that it is just cloudy here. How is Henry and Murphy in this cold?

Hi Vickie....

What a beautiful ornament that you stitched for your friend! I just fell in love with it! Baby Jesus has one of the sweetest faces I have ever seen in needlework and Mary and Joseph look so soft and lovely too. I am sure your friend just loved it! Another treasure stitched by you....❤️

It is actually cold and rainy here today! We haven’t seen rain in quite awhile so I am enjoying it. Not sure if I will stitch today but it sure sounds lovely!

Sending hugs and love your way my friend!

Vickie: what a beautiful ornament, so perfect in the colors you chose.
I am with you we will not see green grass for a long time.
Tomorrow the bottom falls out with sleet snow and cold, I am so sick of this.

Blessings

You have stitched and finished a sweet Nativity scene. I am sure your friend must have been touched with your handmade gift. Big heavy frost for you too then! It seems to be going on a lot in the US at the moment. Rather you than me !! ;)

I love your ornament, and after seeing the original, I like how you left the writing off the top and made it into the shape you did. It's really striking and focuses on the Holy family. What a beautiful gift to your friend. I'm not too keen about the villages. Not my thing.

Love the picture of your frozen falls. Just amazing.

Blessings - Julie
