Autumn Delights

Hi friends! How about we do the happy stuff first, okay? I finished the Barbara Ana 'Autumn Delights' into a framed flatfold. I used a chocolate colored linen I had in my stash. I tried making a twig frame from fallen branches from our big Silver Bark Maple tree. I may still make up a twig frame to mount around the stitched piece, on the flatfold. It is not that easy to get twigs to lay straight!

I stitched this all one over one using DMC on a creamy mystery colored 27 count evenweave.
This is where it sits out on display now. On Great Aunt Ethel's treadle sewing machine with my fall pieces and Cathey's Pumpkin.♥
Here it is in the chocolate garden, amongst the chocolate colored foliage. Did any of you notice the two personalizations I made? Instead of stitching the kitty peeking out from behind the tree, I stitched Henry!! ♥ And I "carved" my initials into the tree bark. =)

Here is my updated picture on the PSS SAL, Mary's Sampler.

Now for the unhappy. I had the second test injection today. The pain relief so far from this test injection is slightly better than two weeks ago. I insisted on stronger sedation this time, so this injection went a lot better. I will have a consult with the doctor in two weeks. If he finds the relief I got this time not very impressive, he will not be doing the radiofrequency alblation in my SI joint. To be honest, our talk this morning was depressing for me. To see my pain specialist discouraged, well it made me feel low. I have tried so very many procedures and therapies over these 9 1/2 years. If he does not do the ablation, we will just manage my pain with medication and occasional cortisone shots. =(

I finished listening to  The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan on CD. It was very good. This book was written in 1678, so it was very different and interesting. I had been wanting to read this for years. I know that it is a popular book with quite a few Amish people actually. It is a Christian allegory. I am glad I found it on CD through the library system so I could finally get this book done!

Let's end with more happiness shall we? I gave Henry a haircut on Sunday.
Boy is he hard to get a decent picture of. He doesn't hold still. Here he is chewing a bone.
Here he is waiting for me to open Winky's cage door. ;)
I couldn't resist adding this one in too. He is so intent on Winky here. He is giving a little leap. Doesn't he look like he is flying or something? hahaha!

Have a stitchtastic day my friends! I am so glad you stopped by!

Stitching and praying,
Vickie

I love that Barbara Ana piece. Yours looks so good in over-one. How cute to put Henry in the photo and your inits on the tree. Looks like such a fun stitch!

Must be hard to keep your spirits up with this pain to deal with. Hope they figure out something. Hugging Henry is probably the best for temporary relief I bet.

Your stitching is lovely, but Henry steals the show, I'm afraid!! Such a sweetie and what a great haircut... I need to learn how to do that.

I pray your pain will be eased somewhat. I can imagine how discouraging it must be.

Blessings!

I love your finish.....I love your other photos too...

May I make a suggestion - you need to make your photos smaller because they are interfering with your Side Bar and its hard to see when the photos are going clear over to your side bar and covering up part of the wording.

Your Barbara Ana tree is adorable, Vickie! How special that your initials are "carved into the tree" with your little buddy nearby.
Henry is adorable, what a genuine sweetie.

I hope you will find pain relief soon. You will be in my prayers.

Your flatfold is gorgeous! The trick to doing a twig frame is having a lot of twigs to choose from :) HA! and if you have long twigs you can snap them where they bend.

Love it all Vickie, gorgeous stuff!

How beautifully you have finished your Barbara Ana piece Vickie.
Your pain management issues must tire you out, constant pain is draining.I fervently hope that whatever happens you can find a way to minimise your pain in the future.

Animals have a way of soothing us,especially dogs, in my experience. Henry is adorable:-)

Wow you are finished already!!!!! I barely have half my tree stitched because 3 weeks dealing with the Inlaws left me so exhausted that I didn't stitch anything. I love the idea of a stick frame somay have to steal that idea....that is if I ever get mine done.

Love Henry's sweet new hairdo. He's just so stinking cute and I'm trying really hard to steer my MIL into a resue poodle for her next doggie. She's always had yorkies and I think a poodle would be a much better fit for her now.

Great finish! I love the changes you made, the initials are a lovely way to sign the piece. And of course you need more evidence of Henry, Mabel has featured in alot of your pieces, bought and stitched!

OK, I love Henry. And your Stitching work! I have a work in progress but I cannot show it on my blog since it is a Christmas present for a mutual blog friend of ours.

OK I did not finish my comment. Yes I hit publish, but I realized I did not finish commenting, so sorry. First of all, that autumn piece is beautiful. I think I may have a challenge for you. I will need to look for the picture and see if you've already done it. I drool over it but I know I don't have that expertise yet, and I believe you do.

As for the pain... oh I know. I can't take ibuprofren and Tylenol does not do a whit, only prescription pain meds will help and I would prefer not to take those. I feel for you. Heating pads do work, but only if you can tolerate it. I used to hate it. Take care!
