Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Or Not!

Good morning my friends. We got 3" of snow yesterday. Tomorrow we will get more, with up to 40 mph winds. *~* I think it is beautiful, but I hate, HATE to drive in it. I am the commuter, taking the kids to and from school most days of the week. Jacob drives 2 to 3 times a week. They are having their final assessments this week. Wouldn't you know it was not snowing when he left yesterday, but on his return it sure was. He did absolutely perfect. I was so worried for him. Driving in snow stresses me, but I think having Jacob drive in snow stresses me more. Obviously he has proved he is capable, I am just a worrier. Anyways, the snow came so I got this picture as promised for you.
I found this nativity scene about 12 years ago in a Catholic magazine and loved it. I asked my FIL if we could make it in wood. He really, really enlarged it for me. I traced it onto the wood and he cut it. Brian paints it black when needed.
Isn't this just too wonderful?!? Chris sent this surprise to me. I just love, love the pink and chocolate theme. I tried to take a picture of this in so many settings, this is the best pic I could get. It is just such a great ornament. I truly love it. I appreciate all of the hard work Chris put into this piece. Thank you my friend.♥

While I was taking pictures at the tree, I thought I would show you my angel. I made her 18 years ago. I found a pattern for her in a magazine. I am not sure if you can see the tiny candle she is holding on the right.
During the snow yesterday afternoon, I spotted this guy in the tree, in the park, behind our yard. It is a Cooper's Hawk. Not the best picture through the snow. It stayed for about one minute. Hope it wasn't here looking for Mabel! Not to worry, she would be too big for him.

We are 95% done shopping. I have almost every present wrapped. The Christmas cards will go out today. I baked peanut blossoms two days ago. I will make the sugar cookies today or tomorrow. It is getting done! =)

We are still praying for the mourning in Newtown. It is just so sad isn't it friends? I find myself wanting to learn some stories, and then I cry my eyes out.

Take care. Stay warm. Drive safe. Thanks for visiting me in this busy, busy season. I appreciate YOU!!

Baking and praying,
Vickie

I love the snow but not when we have to drive in it. If my DH has to drive to work in it I worry. I wish we were going to have a white Christmas but the forecast says there's no snow in sight.

Lovely ornament from Chris. I stitched that one and it's really pretty.

It is so sad all those precious lifes lost. I don't understand these people who can do those things.

Yikes, I'm no friend of snow, let alone driving in it.... you've got some lovely shots though - how thrilling to see the hawk. Lovely ornament from Chris, and your angel is adorable.

I hear you on driving in the snow. I hate doing that. And I worry about my kids driving in it too. Love your creche scene -- so lovely! Nice ornie from Chris too! Great angel as well!

Hi Vickie, pretty snow you have had, and I too do not like to drive so much in it, I like to just sit inside and look out at it! What a beautiful gift from Chris, it has lovely colors. And you got a fine photo of that hawk in the snow. It is hard to get birds, they are usually always moving! It has been a hard time with the tragedy here in Newtown. This is the town next to where I live and work. Everyone has heavy hearts and sadness. And to hear the stories it is heartbreaking. It will take a lot of time to overcome the grief.

Not a big fan of snow but I'll admit it is pretty when it's freshly fallen. Not so pretty when it's mixed with road mush. :o)
I just LOVE the nativity scene you have out front. The ornament Chris made is adorable!
Your angel is a cutie and I'm sure it holds many happy memories of Christmas' past.

What a sweet ornament from Chris. Love your angel and nativity too! My boys aren't old enough to drive yet, but I am sure I'll be a nervous wreck!

Lovely gift from Chris & a very pretty angel you made! I made an angel as well many years ago. I'm not sure how many years ago but I'm guessing maybe 25, give or take a few years : ) I still have her ... she sits in the tree although the poor dear has been packed away for quite a few years now. Maybe she will see the light of day next year : ) Love the nativity your FIL made for you! Enjoy that snow!!!

Ah, snow. We have cooler temps and wind... but no snow. I always worry about DS driving in snow, but here the streets pretty much 'roll up' if there are many flurries :-).

Mabel is looking so sweet below!

Merry Christmas!

I don't like driving in the snow ONE TINY BIT so I don't blame you for the 'worries'. :(
Love the outdoor nativity scene and the way it's back lit. Very nice!!

We had a huge dump of snow in the last 24 hours. I'm a pretty decent, confident driver but even I was turned around by the road conditions and didn't make it into work on Friday.

that is a beautiful ornament form Chris.

Merry Christmas!

I feel exactly the same when it comes to driving in the snow. Two weeks ago we had more than 20", so I had my husband drive me to work before he drove to work. He's the opposite of me, he doesn't mind driving on snow, and he's such a careful driver. So I'm never worried when he's the driver.
