Valentine Stitching

Hi friends! I am busy stitching Valentine pieces. This is ๐Ÿ’˜The yearly anniversary freebie from Cathy of Hands On Design ๐Ÿ’˜

I stitched this one over one on 35ct WDW red pear linen with the called for DMC. Trimmed with VMSS rick rack. The poodle fabric is from my stash.๐Ÿฉ I showed the finish to Brian. Brian asked me, Wait? You love me, or you love poodles? I said, Both?๐Ÿ’—

I put my own little twist on this pattern with the finish, since I had this ๐Ÿ—️ in my stash. The birch ๐Ÿค was in my stash also. It is from JoAnn. I used DMC 612 and VMSS Valentine Red, stitched one over two on antique white 40ct linen. This is now hanging on my ๐Ÿ’˜tall sewing cabinet.๐Ÿ’˜.

๐Ÿ“š Alright my friends, I have another winner for you! I found this audio book on our library's website. It was on the "Staff Picks list". I asked our daughter Madeleine a bit more about it, since she has worked as a Page at our public library for years now. She said that Station Eleven was the book chosen for our library with the grant money given this year by National Endowment of the Arts for the Big Read Program. There are many parallels between the world of Station Eleven, and our present day Covid 19 pandemic. The "Georgia Flu pandemic" in the novel spreads even faster and is inevitably fatal. Victims die within two days of getting sick. This fictional pandemic manages to wipe out 99.9% of Earth’s population, more or less. There’s no way to be sure of the statistics because there’s no internet, or gas, or electricity. Small bands of survivors find each other, and sometimes form settlements, sometimes murder each other.๐Ÿ˜ฒ Lots of people with interconnecting stories are introduced. This book was written in 2017. I find that fascinating.

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” 1 John 1:8-10

The weather is still frigid here with minus temperatures every night. ๐Ÿฅถ Snow is coming once again too. Blech.

I hope you have a very good weekend my friends. Stay safe.

Stitching  and praying,

Vickie

  8. Vickie, Love your version of the HOD freebie...the colors and poodle fabric are precious together. I love your LOVE with the heart and key!! I hope your going to keep it out on your sewing cabinet year round. Well, have you read The Stand by Stephen King? I thought that was a great book but not sure I want to read about such a virulent virus right now!!

  10. Cute stitching finishes:-)
I went in search of the book and it does sound very interesting, I watched a programme a few weeks ago about the Spanish Flu, it was made pre Covid but it was fascinating how similar everything was.

  15. Both are so cute, Vickie! I really love the key and the birch heart for finishing materials, too. It's been SO long since I've been in a store to just shop/browse for finishing materials. Well--it's been a year, actually! I'm so excited that I'll be able to go to Joann's and Michael's and Goodwill next month :)

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! ♥
